Hd Pro Refuses To Be Recognised

Brazenhead89

Question

I have just about had it with this device.

After days of trying to get it running to a near-acceptable level, and eventually succeeding, I returned to it a few days later to find that - lo and behold - it just no longer wants to accept any sort of HDMI cable I plug into it. Neither the HDMI nor component light on the device lights up, even with HDMI cables firmly and correctly connected. The software installer finsihes installing with no issues at all, but after restarting windows it neither installs the necessary drivers nor, even, lists the HD Pro in my device manager. I've tried reinstalling, repairing, checking for updates, even rrestarted my whole #$^@ computer in order to reinstall it afresh. I've tried installing with firewalls and anti-virus both on and off, absolutely nothing has worked.

And now, though the light indicating that the device is connected is on, there's nothing here to suggest that there's any action between it and my PC. I can only presume that the usb port is frazzled. It never felt particularly stable in the first place - always a little loose. Is anybody else's device like this? Can anyone else advise?

I'm disappointed. Once this thing worked, I was impressed. But after all the hassle it's caused me, I'm beginning to doubt it was worth either the effort or the money. Advice is most certainly appreciated!

How do I post images on the forum? I'm not typically a forum person.

I guarantee you, however, that my Roxio is not listed, nor are there any extra, unexpected devices. I have reset my computer to factory settings and repeated the installation once again, to no avail. Even attaching and removing the device with device manager open does sweet F.A.

Well, either way, as we speak it's being sent back to the supplier for a refund. Sadly, I just don't think this thing's worth the effort, so I'm trading it for a Hauppage. I appreciate the help and patience, guys, but the sad fact is this thing just isn't cutting it for me.

If your done and sending it back as we speak.

What would be the purpose of explaining how to post a image?

Good luck, sorry it didn't work out for you.

I have tried that method, as well as an alternative method - wiring up everything beforehand, installing the software, and resetting the PC when instructed. There's no indication of the PC installing the necessary drivers, no presence of my Roxio in the device manager (which I know as a common check for connection problems), and no device registering when I enter the capture software.

Interestingly, the power light on the Roxio lights up (that large purple light on the front of the device), yet this is the only feedback either the device or the PC are providing me. No other lights, either the component or HDMI lights, are lighting up, even with HDMI cables properly inserted (and I've checked that rigorously!).

Reading between the lines... it appears that at some point Windows Has Installed a driver for the HD Device!

Once that happens, no amount of installing and reinstalling will ever make it right

With the device plugged in in, you must locate what Windows has added it as in your Device Manager and disable it!

It IS there somewhere, you will have to look hard to find it - plug in and unplug the device with Device Manager open and watch for a change. (tell us so we will know ;) )

Of course once you find it and disable it, unplug and run the install/repair again.

Reboot and plug it in.

We will keep our fingers crossed for you!

I'm aware that factory resetting my entire computer would erase my current Roxio installation. That was the whole point. I wanted to start again, install the software and hardware without the intrusion of a paranoid anti-virus, and eliminate anything that could conflict with the installation. A fresh computer, fully updated with all other necessary service packs, updates and drivers; right back to where I started before the problems began, and eliminating the possibility of the Anti-Virus conflicting. Since getting to that point, no amount of installing, uninstalling, repairing or restarting can get the PC to register my HD Pro.

I have tested all USB ports, used a number of different cables, and used a number of different USB devices; all of which work without hassle. 'Tis a sad day, to be sure.

I will ask again.

Did the software come with a quick start manual for installing the software & hardware?

Did you read it and follow it?

Absolutely nothing. I installed a new Anti-virus but, as stated, I turned it off during the re-installation of my Roxio. And when I factory reset my entire computer, I turned off Windows defender and only connected to the internet to instal the necessary updates for the Gamecap. I am yet to install the new anti-virus on my PC again.

I'm about ready to write this off as a lost cause. The USB port on my HD Pro always felt flimsy, and the device itself feels like it'll break in the palm of my hand. It's probably just bust as a result of being so shoddily made.

Software doesn't break its self.

You talk of installing new antivirus. If it has a registry scanner/cleaner it can hose Roxio installations.

"A factory reset on my entire computer," your installed Roxio software would be gone.
