Dvds Won't Play - Toast 11

I've been using Toast 11 for the past 6 months without too many issues. A couple of weeks ago, I was prompted to install an update and since I installed the update none of my DVD's will play in a DVD player. I get "disc error" each time I try to play them.

I don't know what is causing that for you. I'm presuming you have the latest Toast 11 update that is 11.1(1072). There were some problems with earlier Toast 11.1 updates including a problem with burn speeds. One thing to try is trashing the Toast plist and prefs files in your User>Library>Preferences folder and relaunching Toast. These files are known to get corrupted. If you are running Lion or Mountain Lion the user library is accessed by holding down the option key when selecting the Go menu in the Finder.

 

You also might try manually selecting a burn speed. After the disc is inserted choose Recorder Settings in the Toast Recorder window. There you can select a speed instead of "Best."

 

Another thing to try is choosing Save as Disc Image instead of clicking the burn button. When the disc image is finished, use the Image File setting in the Toast Copy window to burn the resulting .toast file.

 

Hopefully one of these things will work. You also can download the latest Toast 11.1 update from Roxio's Software Updates page and reinstall Toast.
