skeefo
I have tried to write to the DVD+R disc numerous times. I have only gotten it to work once. I keep getting "there was a problem writing to disc" error. I went through the trouble shooting list . DMA is on. Any other suggestions?

Bill Muzin
I am having the same issue getting "there was a problem writing to the disc" message after I click the Burn button on the export screen. What's more interesting is sometimes when I click the Burn button a window pops up asking if I want to choose to "burn files to disk using Windows Explorer" or "burn a DVD Video disk using Windows DVD Maker". If I then choose Windows DVD Maker, it brings me to another screen where I choose the videos to include and then allows me to burn what I chose. The resulting burn works and I have a viewable video, but none of the trimming I did in editing is included in the video. The bottom line is I get those write errors when doing a Roxio burn but not a Windows DVD Maker burn. I'm using R+ DVDs. Any ideas?
cdanteek
It sounds like something in Windows Auto Play settings. Look in Control Panel. Autoplay, what are your settings where I have red arrows?

Bill Muzin
cdanteek, I set the Autoplay to no action. I didn't get the window asking about Windows Explorer or Windows DVD Maker, but I got the same error message "there was a problem writing to the disc". Borrow a DVD-R bank disc from a friend or two (different brand) and try it. If that doesn't work we need to trouble shoot the DVD Drive.
Bill Muzin
I tried to write to a Memorex -RW DVD, same "there was a problem writing to the disc" message.
cdanteek
I tried to write to a Memorex -RW DVD, same "there was a problem writing to the disc" message. Writing the same file from record edit save? Try a small different capture file, record edit save -RW is a odd duck can't find a DVD - R? In device manager open and post me a screen shot or list the burner.
Bill Muzin
The burner is TSSTcorp DVD+-RW TS-H653J ATA Device from the device manager. The Roxio software under "destination drive" calls it a TSSTcorp DVD+-RW TS-H653J D200. Yes, I tried the same file on -RW DVD, then I tried a much smaller file with just beginning and ending trimming with both a +R and -RW and got the same message, always from record, edit, save. cdanteek
Did that come in a Dell? Have you checked for and updates for the drive? Can you borrow a USB DVD Burner from someone?
Bill Muzin
cd, Yes, my computer is a Dell Inspiron 620. I updated the dvd drivers and got further. I was able to successfully burn a DVD through Roxio and was able to view the video, complete with the Roxio type menu, on my computer on either +R or -RW DVDs. I still get "there was a problem writing to the disc" errors on a couple videos that have many internal trims (about 100), so I may have screwed up in the internal trimming, I'll have to work on that. The problem I still have is that those videos will not play on my DVD player, which is a Sony. Both the +R and -RW DVDs give me the message "the disc can neither be played or recorded. So I can play +R videos created through Windows DVD Maker but the ones created through Roxio cannot. This doesn't make sense to me... any ideas on this one? Thx, B
