Problem With Roxio Creator Special Edition 2011

Careca

Question

I bought this Program a year back so that when I had extra time to start converting my Hi8 video to DVD. I have an AMD 8 core 3.1 ghz with 16 Gig Ram and 2-1 TB hard drives running Windows 8. plugged everything according and I can capture in Composit fine but S-VHS video is so dark that I can't make out. Tried different cables but its the same. Has anyone encountered this and what can I do to fix it. Please help, I have quite a few tapes to do.

Windows 8 Compatibility for Roxio Products

Corel is happy to support many of your favorite Roxio products on Microsoft's latest operating system release, Windows 8.

The following products are Windows 8 compatible. Please make sure latest updates are installed:

  • Roxio Creator NXT

  • Roxio Creator NXT PRO

  • Roxio Easy VHS to DVD 3/Plus

  • Roxio Game Capture HD PRO

  • Roxio Game Capture

The following products are not currently Windows 8 compatible (as of Oct 26 2012):

  • Roxio Easy CD and DVD Burning

  • Roxio Easy LP to MP3

  • Roxio RecordNow Music Lab 10 Premier

We may release new versions of these products that are Windows 8 compatible in the near future. However, there will not be any patch released for current Windows 7 version to make it Windows 8 compatible.

Previous versions of Roxio branded software that are not listed above as "Windows 8 compatible" will run into compatibility issues and are not supported by Corel on Windows 8.

How do I get Windows 8 compatible Roxio software?

Existing customers can upgrade to the latest Windows 8 compatible software at the Roxio Upgrade Center. New Customers can get the latest software at the Roxio eStore or call our Inside Sales Team at 1-877-582-6735 (Monday - Friday, 9 AM to 7 PM, EST - excluding Corel holidays) if you have any questions.

What happens if I try to install a non-compatible product on Windows 8?

Some products may not install properly and/or have limited functionality - even if the product appears to install properly. Please note that Corel does not provide support for products installed on Windows 8 that are not Windows 8 Compatible. Corel does not support any products installed on a pre-released version of Windows 8.

Underneath the preview screen there are four icons. The one just to the left of the speaker icon is "enhance picture" you can lighten the image from there. Remember that s-video is video only and you still need separate audio feeds.

After you capture, you can always do additional adjustments in Edit Video -Advanced.

Remember that you are working with low definition video and it will never be as good as what you expect.

If you can capture composite, why are you worrying about S-video anyway?

He is running Roxio Creator Special Edition 2011 in W-8!

Your assuming it will work?

Yes, that is a logical assumption since he is capturing OK with the composite cable.

That is not assurance that it will continue to work. As you know there have been many posts where people said a non-compliant program worked and then stopped.

If you read closely the op says " I can capture in Composit fine but S-VHS video is so dark that I can't make out."

Your talking about s-video, are we on the same page?

The program is not crashing like it would if there was a compatibility issue since he can capture from something using the composite input. Until he comes back and explains more about dark vs black, there is no use speculating. Let's see if he can find the adjustment for image and what it does.
