sknis
Hi guys have just bought a Power Shot A4000 IS and am having trouble figuring out how to take night photos without flash as going to see fairy penguins and am not allowed flash photography I was shown just turn of auto flash and take photo just dark screen any help greatly appreicatied thanks Sorry, that camera is not a good choice for night photos of moving objects. What does you manual say about night photography. What little I read is that you will get a lot of noise if you set the lens wide open. Probably the best you can do is set the camera to program mode and then set it for the night scene or what similar setting you have on that camera. Use a tripod or monopod. Once you get the images on your computer, you can then improve how they look by brightening them. You may be able to get some spectacular effects if you apply a HDR high dynamic range) to the images. You images will be more artsy rather than more documentation.
cdanteek
Try 'P' for program, above function set +/-, Adjust image brightness.
