According to Corel, Creator 2012 Pro is not compatible with Windows 8, see below in which they explicitly state that products not listed in the compatibility list "WILL run into compatibility problems" and "Some products may not install properly and/or have limited functionality - even if the product appears to install properly".

Thinking of upgrading to NXT? The Corel upgrade pricing is shocking, 75% of the full price for around 10%(my guess) new/improved functionality. Surely most 2012 Pro users would just want a minor upgrade to Win 8 functionality at a much more modest price. In any case forget getting through to their sales phone line, I spend over 10-15 minutes holding being told they had unexpectedly high call volumes.

"Corel is happy to support many of your favorite Roxio products on Microsoft's latest operating system release, Windows 8.

The following products are Windows 8 compatible. Please make sure latest updates are installed:

  • Roxio Creator NXT
  • Roxio Creator NXT PRO
  • Roxio Easy VHS to DVD 3/Plus
  • Roxio Game Capture HD PRO
  • Roxio Game Capture

The following products are not currently Windows 8 compatible (as of Oct 26 2012):

  • Roxio Easy CD and DVD Burning
  • Roxio Easy LP to MP3
  • Roxio RecordNow Music Lab 10 Premier

We may release new versions of these products that are Windows 8 compatible in the near future. However, there will not be any patch released for current Windows 7 version to make it Windows 8 compatible.

Previous versions of Roxio branded software that are not listed above as "Windows 8 compatible" will run into compatibility issues and are not supported by Corel on Windows 8.

How do I get Windows 8 compatible Roxio software?

Existing customers can upgrade to the latest Windows 8 compatible software at the Roxio Upgrade Center. New Customers can get the latest software at the Roxio eStore or call our Inside Sales Team at 1-877-582-6735 (Monday - Friday, 9 AM to 7 PM, EST - excluding Corel holidays) if you have any questions.

What happens if I try to install a non-compatible product on Windows 8?

Some products may not install properly and/or have limited functionality - even if the product appears to install properly. Please note that Corel does not provide support for products installed on Windows 8 that are not Windows 8 Compatible. Corel does not support any products installed on a pre-released version of Windows 8."

OK !! Another reason not to buy more ROXIO Products.I bought Roxio 2012 on year 2012 and installed on Windows 7...This is less than one year ago... now I have no more support... so I have a very recent Roxio 2012 version and I can not use it because I decided to upgrade to Windows 8 (which basically is identical to Windows 7) and Roxio just offers me a little discount... pay more... pay more...Bye Roxio.(oh yes... I suppose my opinion will be deleted... probably... yes?)

You decided to upgrade to Windows 8. That is Roxio's fault?

After reinstalling completely Roxio 2012 Pro again on Windows 8, it started working again... but has soooo many bugs (it goes on hanging everytime to try to do something... it did on Windows 7 too but not so often). And... of course... Roxio will not correct those bugs because Roxio is working on a incredible full of new options on incredible new Roxio 2013 and don't want to support Roxio 2012. Want you to buy again... and again next year with new incredible renew full options Roxio 2014.

Of course is not Roxio's fault I decided to upgrade Windows 2008. IS Roxio's fault stop supporting Roxio 2012 (no more new versions neither bug and hangs corrections... nevermore). Is Roxio's fault, or a marketing trick, to say there is a new Roxio 2013 version and leave the "just one year old" Roxio 2012 version without support. Imagine Microsoft take a new O.S. every year and stop supporting the last year O.S. Then I would stop using Microsoft O.S....
