Photo Suite Roxio Nxt

Penny

Question

I am restoring old pictures that are in pretty bad shape - many scratchs etc. The scratch removal tool does absolutely nothing - other tools work. Could I have installed incorrectly?

Thank you for any help.

One more thing - just out of curiousity - are Roxio and Corel merging? Why is Corel Paint Shop included with Roxio NXT? Seems redundant.

You did notice that you have to select an area before using it???

I primarly use the Clone feature as an alternative Here I am removing some telephone lines:

I still have C2012 installed but I believe there is no difference to NXT. In C2012 the "scratch removal" toll works correctly. Hopefully someone with NXt will test the tool and report back.

I gave it a test drive on the same photo and found it... disappointing

I'll stick with PSP ;)

You are comparing the Clone Tool from PSP to the Scratch Removal Tool in PhotoSuite. A better comparison might be Clone Tool from PSP with the Clone Tool from PhotoSuite.

Scratch Removal Tool works correctly in NXT.

The Scratch Removal Tool in PhotoSuite just blurs the scratches. The Clone Brush might give more desirable results for you.

As mentioned above, Corel's PaintShop Pro has much more advanced features than PhotoSuite.

I agree the PhotoSuite Clone tool is much better then the Scratch tool. I can "erase" a scratch with the scratch tool but I found I had to do several passes to fix it while with the clone tool it can be done in a few seconds.

Do as Walt suggested first!

Then when you have some time put some copies of photos you worked on in a new folder and dabble with PSP using the copies ;)

Corel has thier own support site for PSP but a few of us here use it and will be happy to assist. Who knows, you might even force me to learn something
