Capture Video Doesn't Work,purple/green Preview Window In Videowave; Video Jerks

greenjeans

Question

I've just reinstalled Creator 2009 (clean install) and SP4. The preview window in Videowave shows only purple and green colors. The video jerks and skips many frames. I just found out video capture is not working as I had been using previously captured video. I had thought that the SP4 had fixed the problems before, but it sure hasn't this time around.

Some upgrade was installed on my computer that messed things up. I think it was for Windows Media Player, but I'm not sure. I never have automatic updates done, usually, but somehow it got turned back on. Sorry I hadn't gotten back to you sooner, but major storms, power outages, and holidays have intervened.

I'll get back to you about the directX as soon as I can get back on the internet and this site on my other computer. I think directX is the problem. greenjeans

With that CPU, i'm surprised that you got it to work at all. I bet when it did work it was very slow. I believe that it is below the required minimums but I can't find what is the minimum.

You can try a couple of things. You video chip is Mobile Intel® 945GM/GU Express Chipset Family. The driver is from 2007 ! Update that driver. I see that HP doesn't have an update but Intel does have a newer one (2008). Go here and put in your information to get the correct driver and then update the driver on your computer.

Make sure you have NOTHING else running while you are working with the program - no internet, no anti-virus, etc.

You barely have enough free space on your system drive; don't even try to save anything to that other drive (is it a thumbdrive)?

I fyou don't do regular maintenance on your computer use these tools: to get rid of programs that you no longer use, to clean up the temp and TMP files and to do a good defrag of your system drive.

I was right in the middle of a reply when I accidentally hit wrong key? Have downloaded update. Will see if it installs. Everything worked fine until the accidental update. I do regular mainten. with Auslogics and Revo. Basically only update virus prot. to keep the system running fine as it was.

External drives 500GB to 3TB, and you can see why I need them.

I have Sony PMB installed for the last year and a half, which only caused the phot editing in Roxio to not handle batches anymore. I may have to uninstall and reinstall it. I'll try update first.

Thanks. greenjeans

OK. Update on chipset installed, but no luck with downloading video. If I uninstall PMB, should I also do another reinstall of C2009 before reinstalling PMB? That was the order they seemed to work in before. I need them both to be able to edit the video the way I do it, especially on what I already have downloaded previously onto the drives. ( A lot of which I have never had time to edit, yet).

The video IS normal colors now, at least, but is still jerky.

That is because of dropped frames while you are capturing!

Read the first sentence in post #5. Your CPU is slow. Typically the CPU must be above 2.0. I did find the listed minimum requirements and they are a joke.
