Creator 2011:problems With Mts,m2Ts Files In Videowave;locked Files From Sony Hdcam In Capture Video

greenjeans

Question

I've noticed that Creator 2011 does not convert files from MTS or M2TS into mpg-2 files automatically as Creator 2009 did, but puts those files directly into Videowave as they are. It would be fine if Videowave would then work correctly, but it doesn't. It runs erratically at times, always taking about 5-10 minutes to complete any change to the time line. I have been putting my video files onto an external drive, attaching it to my other computer running Creator 2009, converting in Videowave to mpg, connecting back to this computer to add files to Videowave here, then processing. Now I'm having troubles with Creator 2009 which I've posted elsewhere. Is there a way to tell Videowave manually to convert those files in C2011? Or even better, something I can do to use the MTS files as they are and get Videowave to work faster?

Also, though I normally use Sony PMB or drag and drop through usb with cam connected or simply from SD card inserted in computer, I sometimes like to use Capture Video through the USB connection to Creator for HD files (not Roxio's analog to USB for this camera). I have found with Creator 2011 that some of the files are locked. They also show 1920/1440x1080 instead of the usual 1920x1080. I have disconnected and checked the camera. They are not locked on the camera. However, they may have been divided on the camera or reinstalled onto the camera ( Sony HDR-CX150) with Sony PMB which is likely the problem. Just thought I'd mention it since someone else may have the same problem.

The computer is running on Windows 7, and I'd like to get this program running properly before upgrading to Windows 8.

Thank you beforehand for any help with the files in Videowave timeline.

Thanks for your response. Sorry I didn't get back sooner. We had power outages, then Christmas. Hope you've had good holidays!

Funny, but the Windows 8 checker I ran on my computer said it was compatible with C2011, or at least didn't have any issues with any Roxio I had installed, including C2011. Oh, well, that's good to know. Thanks again!

Yes, I would imagine Roxio's info about its own products is more accurate, and in this case, particularly.

I would like to say, however, that even the developers of a program don't always seem to know its full capabilities (especially when used in conjunction with other products), and a user must sometimes "fiddle around until it's broken, then fiddle around until it's fixed" (to misquote someone else on this site?) in order to find the best system for what one does best. (I'm not speaking of Win8 here.)

I just must remember never to edit any MTS files until I've downloaded directly from the camera through C2011. That is, if I keep C2011 and forego Win8. Tough decision!

Thanks again. greenjeans

The only MTS files I have had any problems with have been the ones recorded at very high bitrates, 25 mbps or so...

Actually a lot of software has trouble with those  I switched to the next lower camcorder setting and never had a problem since (2 1/2 years).

Haven't really tried again but Creator 2012 & NXT also directly load the MTS files and work better than 2011 ;)
