Video Wave Stops Working

Clippit

Question

I have been editing numerous small video files, all under 20 mins, and Videowave (Roxio Creator 2012 Pro) keeps shutting down ("Videowave has stopped working"). I don't know if it always happens when inserting or editing a music clip but it is possible.

I tried running Repair but that didn't fix the problem so I uninstalled and then installed the program again.

Where are you getting the audio files? Are they DRM protected? What format are they?

Please post the full computer specs via dxdiag follow these instructions (link) and attach the text file (don't copy and paste).

Your computer processor is right at the low end of the range of acceptable processors. Your computer must be sure that your computer is maintained in the best possible shape with NO other programs running when you are using the program. Here are some free tools to do the maintenance on your computer. Never use a registry cleaner except for one in Revo Uninstaller and then only in moderate mode.

Please update your video card drivers from what you have to a newer driver. See if HP has an updated driver. If not one should be here (link). Please double check the link before you install it.

Make sure you are running on AC and that you do not have any power saving modes enabled (during the use of this product).

Don;t try using your D drive unless you free up soame space on it. Make sure that all the default saving options are not going to your "d" drive.

The first thing to try is to use "Batch Convert and Transfer" under the audio tags to convert the mp3 files to wav. Not all mp3 files are the same. The wav format usually doesn't have an issue.

I have updated the video card drivers and will convert the audio files to wav files. I use RealPlayer Converter which I assume is okay. Then I'll try it out again and let you know how it goes.

Thank you for your help, I really appreciate it.

I really don't trust Real. You paid for the audio converter programs (actually 2 or 3 depending on how you use them) in Creator 2012, why don't you want to use them?

While adding the second audio file Videowave froze and did not respond 10 mins so I closed the program. This was not the same as the error I was getting before ("Videowave has stopped working"). I then disabled all start up programs, restarted the computer and was able to easily create and edit an 11 minute video. What a relief!! Thank you so much for your help.

I just received the Roxio Game Capture HD Pro. Will I expect similar problems due to my computer's processor speed? If I were to upgrade computers, what capacity would you suggest.

It is great that you got it to work. Perseverance does pay off ! :P

I'm not sure anyone will suggest a computer for you. A good gaming computer would normally work. Just make sure that the computer exceeds the minimum requirements and that you buy what you can afford ! :)
