Black Screen Using Hdmi-Dvi

Simuil

Question

Hello all.

I got a HD game capture card from my wife for Xmas yesterday (roxio ofc) I've checked all connections more than once and nothing is happening. here is my set up.

HDMI cable from me Xbox to the front of the capture card- Game Input.

HDMI-DVI D from the back of the capture card to my monitor- Game Output.

USB cable to my computer and power is getting through.

I have the software installed correctly and yes I installed the software before plugging in the USB cable. The software displays the game and is ready to capture but my Monitor is black, it doesn't display "No Signal" so it is getting a signal just not showing anything on my screen.

I've changed all HD options on the Xbox just to see if it was too high for the card or something but that didn't do anything.

HDMI-DVI should be perfect for this because they have the same signal DVI just doesn't carry sound like a HDMI-HDMI cable does.

So please if there is anyone out there with a solution me and my wife would be very grateful.

Thanks

No mate I've got 1 Monitor 22" (the one I want my Xbox to show on) and a 17" Hanspree Tv. I have both connected to my PC and I can switch between the PC and my Xbox no problem normally on my 22"Monitor by using my input button, when i try this when i connect it to my capture card I get a black screen not a No Signal screen just black. The Software is running on my 17".

... GUYS! It works! I just changed the display on my Xbox 360 to 1280 x 720 Widescreen...

So in the end it was a Setting on your console that allowed your Monitor to work...

Apparently your Monitor was not capable of working above 720...

Since you crashed this Topic I think we will lock it now ;)

I think only certain monitors are capable of splitting the signals as long as it gives you the option to manually direct the sources itself...it could be quite frankly majority of us with pc monitors were pretty much Pre-HDMI so the signal may probably be uncommon to the devices we have now (not 100% sure), otherwise, your alternate solution is the only thing you can do :/

Guys.. I found a solution. Go to the last page of my post.

From a post by you, in another thread of yours: This issue was (temporarily?) solved when I searched around and found someone got a fix by restoring their computer to an earlier time. My computer had installed a Windows update the night after I had rendered the first clip. I'm concerned now, though, that a future update will cause the problem to re occur, as this has happened to several people who previously were able to render, from owners of a few weeks to a few months.

I mean, won't the same update re-cause the issue?

Did Windows install another update that caused your problem?

That was a completely separate issue, see title of that thread. I've had this problem from the start.

Did you get it figured out? I'm having the exact same issue...

Where/what are the RGC outputs connected to?

Do you have only one monitor your trying to play the XBox on and run the capture software on (same Monitor)?

I wasn't trying to *^$$ off anyone and I know he was trying to help but he didn't read my post and was posting other links that I've done before he linked it. I just want help from the people of this community for something that cost 150 dollars and then for tech support ya need to pay 20 dollars for.

There must be someone out there in this community that is using this set up.

Dude if you don't have an answer please don't reply because we've been trying to get it to work with 2 days now, linking me other posts won't help if you have an answer please tell me. Unlike the place that you linked me, my software is displaying the input from the xbox, but NOT outputting to my Monitor...it's not that there isn't a signal being revived it's that my Monitor screen is blank.

You still need to connect the capture device via USB with a laptop/PC for recording though. The preview in the Capture software has about 2 second delay as it is required for the hardware to process the video.

But it is connected to my PC? I said that already..

Yeah I've read that, but that shouldn't matter, HDMI and DVI are the exact same signal just that DVI does not carry sound. My cable works when I plug it directly into my Xbox so why shouldn't it work with this?

You've read it!

Re-read the second to the last sentence again..

Can I use Roxio Game Capture HD PRO to play live games on my computer display?

Yes as long as your computer display can take HDMI or Component input. Instead of connecting a TV, you can connect your computer display as an output with Roxio Game Capture HD PRO device so the video can be passed through in real time to your computer display.

You still need to connect the capture device via USB with a laptop/PC for recording though. The preview in the Capture software has about 2 second delay as it is required for the hardware to process the video.
