Capture Hd Pro In-Game Com Capture?

hey guys, so i just received the HD pro for christmas yesterday and i want to start using it asap. the biggest thing to me is capturing the in game coms along with the video. i play battlefield 3 religiously and am always on a squad with mics.

 

i've seen youtube videos showing how to capture the coms but they arent very clear....

 

so my question is, what is the easiest, cheapest way to capture my voice, along with my squad chat with the gameplay on my ps3? im completely new to the game recording devices...

that doesnt help me. all that says is that you cant record in-game coms.

You have to use a recording software such as Audacity (Free) to record your voice. As for the party members, you go to the audio settings in the PS3 and set the chat output to the system default. Now you'll use whatever mic you have to record. If you have a headset that uses both USB and an AUX plug, you can use that to record while also being able to still chat with the party. Either that or use two separate mics, but if you only have one like myself then you have to choose. Once you have your voice you'll have to sync it up with the game so I advise you do a countdown before you record. Ex. Say, "3,2,1" and then move the PS3 cursor or press a button exactly when you say one so you'll have a reference to where to sync the audio. That's how I've done them since Roxio doesn't have an actual live comm. feature.

Yes, that's exactly what I mean. When the output is set to the default it allows the game capture to pick up what's being heard through the tv. You might still be able to chat using the bluetooth, but you'll have to deal with hearing them talk through the tv and if you're recording your voice with a separate mic it'll also pic up what's coming from the tv. Ok soooo, ran in to another problem.. Lol.

 

When the voice chat is being pushed through the tv, I can't hear them for ^#!&. Is there a way that I can get the voice chat to be sent through the tv AND my headset??

Unfortunately not :/ Unless you had a pair of headphones that plug into the tv itself, you won't be able to hear them like that. All I can say is turn down the other volumes (the gun sounds, music and announcer). I know when mine is set to out put through the tv the volume is low so I had to lower the other volumes and change the sound setting to either headphones or supercrunch in BO2's options menu.

Yes, you can use Audacity to record live commentary or a regular commentary. The difference between them is you'll be recording your voice while you game for a live comm and you'll be recording your voice while you watch a recorded gameplay for a normal comm. Either way you'll still have to record it, export it and then line it up with the video so it's pretty much the exact same process. As for deciding between the Roxio or AverMedia, it's solely up to you. I will tell you, though, that Roxio has great quality...just not great customer service, has some software issues and there's a high chance you'll run into issues whether it's software or hardware related. I've never used AverMedia so I can't say much, but I do own the Roxio and like I said, it has great quality just some issues that need working out. Still waiting on a replacement for my defective game cap that I've had since November 6th. Roxio/Corel have yet to send it, they usually email me once a week if I'm lucky and they're on holiday break until Jan. 2nd so I still have to wait.

Alright so, what I've found out I can do is this: change the mic settings for the output to be on the tv, turn down the master volume, mute the tv, hook up headphones to my laptop that is recording through the gamecap, then record my voice through audacity.

lol Yeah, that's pretty much what I have to do, but luckily for me my tv is close to my laptop and my headphones reach the tv. I mute the tv, but can still hear the game using my headphones. Honestly, though, I actually enjoy the game a little more when I play with no volume and have some kind of distraction lol. I rage less and don't worry that much about anything.
