Capture Software Switches From 720P To 480P By Itself

brettj89

Question

I find that sometimes (I'm not sure if it's something I do that causes this to happen or what) when I start the capture software, it will be set to record in 480p instead of the HD 720p I set it at. This gets rather frustrating when I don't remember to check to make sure every time I start the program that it's set to HD 720p and find out later all the files are in 480p.

Any idea what causes this?

Thanks.

The available settings depend on the model of your game console. The default selection is 720p.

Sorry, but that's not relevant to what I'm saying. I'm not concerned about the available settings, I'm concerned about why the software feels the need to switch the resolution settings by itself.

The default selection may be 720p, but when I start the program it is sometimes at 720p, sometimes 480p.

It isn't?

What console?

Not all games play at the same resolution.

My best guess is that when you go from the game to the different menus the resolution for some god forsaken reason changes.

If at that moment the software decides to detect automatically then it will be at 480p and you have to change it back to 720p.

To try a fix in my ps3 settings I have disabled the 480p option so it does not go to that resolution, Have not recorded much since then, but will let you know.

I know how much it sucks recording thinking its in HD and then finding out it was only 480p. I have to do a bunch of videos all over again because of this.

I really hope roxio gives up its vice grip on this hardware and allows compatibility with other software, cause this roxio software royally sucks.

Just to add another angle to this issue...

When you upload to YouTube it can also re-render and downgrade the Quality.

This is a YouTube function that has to do with the type and privileges of the Account you have there. IF that is your issue, check with YouTube about this -_-
