HELP: I Can't add titles to the Menu

wkrik

Question

Anyone please help... I need to make some DVD's....

This is similar to the problems others have had regarding adding a title and no menu buttons appearing. It all started around the time everyone else starting seeing the problem, BUT I never installed IE7 Beta. I have IE6 verions 6.0.2900.2180.xpsp_sp2.

I resinstalled EMC7.1, DirectX 9.0c, .Net framework, ATI's latest drivers; and still no luck

I still think all this had to do with a recent MS patch update.

I'm using DVD Builder 7.1.0.183

Other System information: P4 3.0 / 1.25GB Ram.

DirectX 9.0c (4.09.0000.0904)

Card name: RADEON 9600 SERIES

Manufacturer: ATI Technologies Inc.

Chip type: ATI RADEON 9600 Series AGP (0x4150)

DAC type: Internal DAC(400MHz)

Device Key: Enum\PCI\VEN_1002&DEV_4150&SUBSYS_00021002&REV_00

Display Memory: 128.0 MB

Current Mode: 1280 x 1024 (32 bit) (70Hz)

Driver Name: ati2dvag.dll

Driver Version: 6.14.10.6631 (English)

Driver Package Version 8.282-060802a-xxxxxxx

My machine now has a brand new NVIDIA GEForce FX5200 128MB DDR PCI card. I have uninstalled Roxio did a clean installed according to Mujtaba, the Roxio Tech. DVD builder still cannot add titles to the menu. DVD builder also crasheds when launched from Videowave. I have also applied the hotfix for that problem ?Still nothing.

I followed another tread which suggested that IE 7 Beta was the culprit. I uninstalled it and DVD Builder now seems to work just fine. Not sure I needed the new 3d card, need to do more testing on that.

I have a Sony VAIO and had to add a graphics AGP and sound card to get the program to run properly. The computer I bought had on-board video and sound which didn't meet the requirements for EMC7.

The program needs a video card that meets or exceeds the requirements on the side of the box for the graphics to work.

DVD Builder will not allow you to add work of any type to the menu when building your DVD. I have a Dell PC and a Sony VAIO PC and both behave the same way.

The problem was explained by WKRIK. DVD Builder will not allow any titles to be added. I see changes in file size but nothing else. My system info is as follows.

Roxio Easy Media Creator 7(Build 7.1.1.189 ENU)

Operating System: Windows XP Home Edition (5.1, Build 2600) Service Pack 2 (2600.xpsp_sp2_gdr.050301-1519)

System Manufacturer: Dell Computer Corporation

System Model: Dell DE051

BIOS: Phoenix ROM BIOS PLUS Version 1.10 A01

Processor: Intel® Celeron® CPU 2.53GHz

Memory: 1022MB RAM

DirectX Version: DirectX 9.0c (4.09.0000.0904)

Display Card name: Intel® 82865G Graphics Controller

Display Memory: 96.0 MB

Current Mode: 1280 x 1024 (32 bit) (60Hz)

Display Driver Name: ialmrnt5.dll

Description: Analog Devices SoundMAX Digital Audio

Audio Driver Name: smwdm.sys

Audio Driver Version: 5.12.0001.7000 (English)

Actually I was responding to Hans. This is why its a poor idea to jump into other posters threads, it creates all sorts of confusion.

You have on-board video which is most likely not fully compatible with DirectX 9c and you may have to get a full video card. The video memory (96MB) is also not enough to do video work, I think EMC requires at least 128MB.

Since you never explained what your problem is, it is very difficult to offer any help. Stating I have the same problem is not much information especially since we don't even know what your system specs are. A description of your system and what you are trying to do, etc is much more helpful.

I believe it's related to the way SP2 and the most current windows updates work with Roxio. Roxio should offer a fix.

If you feel your issue is related to an update from MS, then why not look to them to see if they have a fix since they are the ones who it appears broke something, not Roxio/Sonic. They (MS) put out updates all the time that break things, and then isuue more updates to correct the ones the issued in the first place. You could try removing some of the more recent ones thru add/remove programs to see if that helps.

Wkrik described his problem in the subject line of his post. As I reviewed a lot of the DVD posts, many folks are experiencing this same problem. Irrespective of system configuration information, folks have tried a lot of things (like Myguggi). I have as well.

I did contact tech support. Here is what Mujtaba told me to do.

1. Log in as Administrator and make sure you have Win-XP SP2.

2. Run Windows update

3. Update display drivers and audio drivers

4. Disable all anti-virus and spyware

5. Close all apps running in the background

6. Remove all Roxio and Sonic Products from computer.

a. Uninstall or use Windows Cleanup Utility to uninstall

b. Disable all startup using msconfig

c. Delete all remnants of Roxio & Sonic files (a large list)

7. Remove Roxio and Sonic from Registry locations

8. Run Roxizap

9. Reinstall Creator 7 and install update.

:) Did not work

If you think it's a MS update, you can try uninstalling your recent updates.

You might want to consider contacting Roxio Tech Support.

I'm also having this problem. If anyone figures it out, please post it. I tried the hotfix from another post but it didn't make a difference.

I'm using EMC 7.5 and down loaded and installed the Roxio update to the Box CD and Direct X 9.0C from Microsoft with no change.
