Update to 8.0.5 keeps saying it's corrupted

jimbabka

Question

I have EMC8 Suite and I've downloaded the file EMC80_805_Update.exe 4 times now. Every single one gives the same problem: When I launch it, it says,

"The contents of this file cannot be unpacked. The executable you are attempting to run has been corrupted. Please obtain another copy of the file, verify its integrity, and try again."

I am using Firefox 1.5 to download the file. My system is a new HP, Intel Viiv dual core, 2Gb RAM, latest XP Media Center Edition. I have tried disabling Norton Security and Anti-Virus while downloading and running - no change. Does anyone have any ideas? Is this file just corrupt on the website?

OK, it turns out that I had to use Internet Explorer to do the download. however, now it says that I don't have the right version to be upgraded. The Help->About screen for Creator Classic says:

Roxio Easy Media Creator 8 (Build 805B56B ENU)

The build does not appear to be either the source or target of this update, but the version just says "8", not "8.0.5" or anything like that. Do I have the latest version? I got this from a retail package.

You learned 2 things, which is good. Use IE next time, and you already have the latest version of the software, outside of the Deluxe version. Life is good.

OK, I'm having this same problem - except in my case it is with the CD I recieve from Roxio. I try to run the installation for roxio 8.05 on the CD and I get the message:

"The contents of this file cannot be unpacked. The executable you are attempting to run has been corrupted. Please obtain another copy of the file, verify its integrity, and try again."

This is the second CD I have recieved from them and the same thing happens.

Any ideas??

Pretty frustrating , especially when I find out the 9.0 version has/is been ready. :)
