Distorted Picture Playback On Laptop

JCBxXx

Question

I have recently purchased my Roxio Standard game capture. I started setting this up realising that i did not have the correct ports on my tv for the hd as it normally uses a hdmi cable. i have sorted this by ordering a hd scart adaptor. so to start with i searched how to set up in standard def. On doing this i followed a video, which i found on this site, to the t and on my Toshiba satellite l350 laptop the playback picture was distorted and couldnt stay still. Is this my laptop, tv or am i just doing something wrong? My Tv is a Bush 19" HD ready LCD Tv. Can someone please help as i am desperate to start recording! i have attached a screen shot of what it looks like.

Well i set my xbox up on my downstairs tv, which has the red/ green / blue component slots. and the video is fine. i have ordered one of these: http://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/aw/d/B0018D5IP0/ref=mp_s_a_1?qid=1357144483&sr=8-5&pi=SL75 to conquer the problem for my upstairs tv. however now the sound sync is bad and if i have recorded in game voice, it playsback at a really high pitch, it seems sped up. i have set it up correctly with all the correct wires in the correct slots. any help?
