Roxio Central 2012 No Longer Starts

johnata

Question

After installing a DivX update today, clicking on the Roxio Creator 2012 Pro desktop icon merely displays a mostly empty window with a frame at the bottom telling me to upgrade to the next version for a discount. This was working a few weeks ago so it might have been something else... In addition, the program is looping (burning CPU time at about 13%) and never stops. Closing the window stops everything but starting it back up gives the same scenario. I tried a repair and even uninstall DivX but that didn't change anything. I do not want to upgrade at this time - does anyone have any ideas?

Use Windows restore to restore the computer to the time when it did work. If you don't use DivX, don't install the update. If you need to bring Windows up to date, install one update at a time to figure out whoch one is giving you problems.

The problem was with the new nvidia driver (310.70) that I installed around the same time. Rolling back to the previous driver (306.97) fixed this. I'm not sure if there's a problem with 310.70 itself or it was installed incorrectly but right now its working fine and I don't have the time to troubleshoot. Would you recommend updating DivX seeing it doesn't have anything to do with the problem or keep the one that came with EMC?

A lot of people on this forum and others are having problems with the 310.xx drivers.

Do you use DivX? What version are you using? i have 8.0.1.49. Although I see that support for the 8 has ended. It looks like 9 is the latest. Is that what you installed.

I don't use the player very often, however I do have 8.0.1.40 installed, the version that was on the Roxio Creator 2012 DVD - the update was for 9.0.1, I believe.
