No Audio With M2Ts Files

feelix99

Question

I have a new Dell PC with Windows 8 and I'm using Roxio Creator NXT Pro to create movies. I'm adding M2TS video files but I'm getting no audio during playback. My Panasonic camcorder records in Dolby 5.1. Does Roxio support this format. If not what are my choices to fix problem.

I downloaded my M2ts files to my computer and using Roxio NXT Pro -My DVD I click on add a movie and add my movie file. When you edit movie and from storyline no audio plays however the movie clip plays audio when using just Windows media player. Any ideas on why no audio just in MyDVD.

NO Roxio product outputs 5.1 but it will take them and work with them.

Try converting the files first by using Video Copy and Convert to make a mpg2 file. If that doesn't work, use a free third party converter. I use the free 'Any Video Converter" and it hasn't failed me yet. I use it because it is fast and will do a batch convert if you have a lot of separate files.

Well this is a good reason not to bother to switch to Creator NXT then. I still use Creator 2011 and had no problems whatsoever with Sony MT2S files when my old Gateway PC with XP was stil alive. Now that it has died, and I am running Creator 2011 on my Samsung with Windows 8, I have audio issues with MT2S (only) files.

When I "Add a video file" of a MT2S to edit it, I can press the "play" button and see and hear it within video editor. However the first time I pretty much do anything: add a fade, adjust the length, etc. I no longer get the audio when I play it on the regular timeline. If I look at it in the little "scissors" edit box, the audio comes through, but not when I just play it on the regular timeline.

This never happened to me on XP, so I can only assume that it is a Windows 8 issue. I know that I can convert the file first, and then it is fine when working with a different file format, but I don't want to work with every file twice. Anyone find a way around this? I'm not going to get rid of my Sony handycam, but as a lot of my video work is with MT2S, this makes working with Creator a real pain.

No it's not an issue with my files, my output files are fine. I's all within Roxio itself when I am creating a film.

Any Sony MT2S files that I record on my video camera work fine when I play them on Sony's PMB program, and they initially have sound when I import them into Creator. It's just as soon as I try to do anything with them within Creator, that they become silent in the main playback screen. I can hear them when I use the "set start and finish" editor function for each clip within Roxio, but not when I press play within the main Roxio screen. If I export them to any file type in Roxio: WMV, MP4, etc. they are fine.

The whole issue is when I am working with the file, inserting transitions, adding text, etc. I can't hear what I am working on. It's only within the editor function that I can hear each clip, and so I can't review my work until I actually create the output. It's really weird.

I am presently using a Samsung Series 3 laptop AMD A10-4600M (model NP355V5C-A03CA).

Thanks.

Why not do as cd suggested in post #9 and upload a short clip so others can test it?

Well that didn't work . . .

I thought the heck with it, I will just upgrade to Creator NXT (they had a special deal with a free USB device), and that should solve my Sony MT2S file issue, but no luck. Still the same issue, even with the new software.

I loaded the attached file into the edit video application within NXT,and pressed play - and I had sound. I then added a fade out to the end of the clip, and the next time I pressed play within the video editor, no more sound. If export the clip I have sound, if I play the clip within video editor using the trim video window, I have sound, but when I try to just preview/play my clips within video editor, there is no sound. If I add an audio or music track to the clip, you can hear the new mp3 segment, but the original MT2S is silent.

If any of you guys want to try it, here is a clip that works until you edit it. I know that I can just convert the clips up front and they will then work fine within the program, but I shouldn't have to.
