Roxio Cineplayer Bd Not Playing Blu-Ray From Redbox

Hoping someone can help me here, I have an asus g74s and it came preloaded with Roxio CinePlayer BD. Only just yesterday did I use my laptop to play a movie for the first time, it was The Dark Knight Rises from a Redbox on blu-ray, and it worked perfectly.

 

Today however, I rented Looper, also on blu-ray, but this time cineplayer wouldnt play it. The error message "The application could not read this copy protected disc. Please clean the disc or try another."

 

Both movies are blu-ray, both JUST came out on the redbox and are clean and scratchless. I tried looking through the forums but couldn't find an answer, and I've tried running Check for Updates from the Help button and there are none that it could find.

I am also having this problem. All my Blu-rays have played perfectly since I got this laptop (Asus G73s almost 2 years old) and tonight we rented Total Recall 2012 and I was getting the same error message "The application could not read this copy protected disc. Please clean the disc or try another."

I have also tried finding an update from the Cineplayer help tab and Asus website as well with no results. If anyone can help, it would be much appreciated.

If your software came pre-loaded or "bundled" on ASUS laptops then it's likely to be an OEM version which has been tailored to ASUS's requirements.

 

It looks to me as if the software cannot decode the newer protection on these newer discs, but ASUS are the people who would know and they're also the people tasked with providing support for their bundled software. You should contact ASUS.
