cindibear
Hi, I hope someone can help me with this, I've had enough of Windows 8 and Microsoft doesn't have any information. Photosuite 4 business edition worked fine on Win Professional XP and Win 7, I received a new HP Pavillion desktop with Win8/Office 10 loaded on. I installed Photosuite twice, both times upon opening, the screen is white/blank with only the file open toolbar visible. When I try to open a picture file, nothing happens (no activity at all). I can't afford to replace any more software and I need this application. Any suggestions? Thanks alot! Cin

If it isn't W8 compatible, you would have to upgrade to something that was. Sorry. Here is a list of Windows 8 compatible products. Did any similar program come with your new computer? Did you look? d_deweywright
The only thing I can think of is to locate the executable that runs, and see if it can be run in compatibility mode. I don't have Win8, but Win7 does a remarkable job with compatibility mode. (In Win 7) Right-click on the executable file, select "Properties" then click on the "Compatibility" tab. There you can select what version of Windows to run as. I have an application that would not run past Windows 98, and the compatibility mode in XP didn't work for it. But it works great under Win 7, so I'm hoping that may work for you with PhotoSuite. Unfortunately, if that does not work, you're back to upgrading. MeowEwowE@aol.com
After MONTHS of trying to get support from anyone, in passing to fix my Windows Movie Maker issues, I asked a Microsoft tech if HE could get MGI Photosuite 4 running with Windows 8. I have tried with no avail from every source known! Albeit an old program, it rocks! If you know how to work it, you can do SO much with it MUCH faster! (I strongly recommend the book MGI Photosuite 4 For Dummies). BTW, MGI 4 Platinum version can animated GIFs. MGI PS5 was totally revamped, it's a much different program. However, if you are totally stuck with IT not working in Win8, you might want to try something similar to the steps he took, or contact Microsoft for assistance. Hopefully you will get a smart tech who WILL work with 3rd party software. Most of them refuse to help you. Schmoozing helps LOL! This Microsoft tech was able to fix it in less than 15 minutes. I've tested it for the version I own listed below and OMG, it's finally WORKING!!!! Here's the instructions below. The super nice Microsoft tech typed them out for me to share with others who are also having trouble. I hope it works for you too. I am sorry, but I am not a computer tech so I can only give you the instructions WE did that got it to work on my Sony Vaio. I can not guarantee it will work for you, or that it will do any damage to your computer etc. (I'm covering my keaster and trying to be a good sharing person LOL). This is just the steps HE took on MY computer and got it to FINALLY run! Good luck!!! : ) MGI PHOTOSUITE 4 PLATINUM EDITION version 4.00.0096 (Directions from Microsoft technician. Follow directions below exactly!!!) 1. put disk in the computer 2. don't follow the automatic install prompt 3. open windows explorer (any file) 4. at the left, click the disk (usually D: drive) 5. in the list there will be 3 different setup files, you want the one that has the type set to application 6. right click and select properties 7. set to windows XP service pack 3 compatibility and check the "run as administrator" box 8. after the installation is complete, right click your desktop and select "open file location" 9. right click the file that shows up and right click it and go to properties 10. set to windows XP service pack 3 compatibility and check the "run as administrator" box enjoy! PS I saw that comment from that old geezer on my old thread. That thread somehow got locked so I can't reply to give help to others who also are looking for a fix. You know, that old dude probably has NO clue what this older program does so his comment totally made me laugh. Not very nice! I know how to work other graphic programs, and IMHO, it's a shame Roxio/Corel hasn't upgraded this very powerful program! Everyone else who loves it knows EXACTLY what I'm talking about. We like what WE like! Almost every file I have saved in PZP files I reuse for other templates. Funny how some people are clueless and spout baloney when they just simply don't know what in the h e double hockey sticks they are talking about. Shame shame!
