Windows 7 64Bit Capability

Tony9986

Question

I have tried several products lately with other companies. They DON"T work with Windows 7 64bit. Before I purchase this product, I want to make sure that it will work with Windows 7 64bit. I know the package said it will, but the other products said this also and they didn't work. I don't want to throw away money on something that doesn't work.

I have lots of VHS videos to record to an backup hard drive for my business. I want to make sure that this product will work.

I looked in this forum before posting and I couldn't see anything on this topic.

Thanks in advance for you input.

All the products work with W7 64 bit. They default to working at 32 bit though. I know of only one product that does work `with W7 64 bit as a 64 bit application.

How do you know that the other products don't work with (not at) 64 bit?

I have installed one of the products and it will work with Vista 32bit. But with Windows 7 64bit, will not install. I use the CD that came with product, but get an error message. I looked the message up and that is what the net said was the problem. I have tried two products and same with each. Even thou the package said "Works with Windows 7". Both products were less than $20 each. One product was from Diamond One Touch capture Video and other was MyGica EZgrabber.

"the net was the problem" ? or am i reading it wrong. .net farmework is needed for many of the editing programs. Download the latest version of.net framework from microsoft. in fact, you might want to try doing all of this (link). and do 2 and 4 as described here. The links in 2 and 4 are probably obsolete but just search Microsoft web site for the latest versions.

If you still have a problem, come back and clarify the error you are getting.

It would help if you would also post the dxdiag result on your computer. Read this. remember to attach and not copy and paste.

By the way, there may be something better for you to look at other than Easy VHS to DVD 3. I assume you ned to capture VHS tapes but then what do you want to do with the captured video other than burn the video to discs.

Note, you may get frustrated with the program since the program thinks the tape is finished whenever it sees a blank spot. You can cure that by using a digital camcorder as a pass through.

Sorry if I misled you. When I said the net. I mean that the internet solutions are reporting problems. Here are two links.

Maybe it is something that I am doing. I am following all the instructions that came with the items.

What do either of those 2 links have to do with VHS2DVD3?

Tony, If three or more separate programs don't work for you, perhaps it is time to look at problems with your computer.

Please post the dxdiag evaluation of your computer. Do this (link) and attach the result; do not copy and paste.

Did you do everything I suggested in my #4 post above? If you are having problems with that, perhaps you can get a friend to look over your shoulder.

Just for information, I have a 64 bit Windows computer now with W7 but i had one with the 64 bit Vista operating system. There were never problems using about 10 different video editing programs, 4 different video capture programs and several other programs that required use of the video card/chip (that is where most issues are). The dxdiag information you will post will help us look at how your computer is set up.
