Help With Burning Audio Cds

Dan Wilson

Question

Good day. This is my first submission, so if I do something wrong, please let me know. I am using Creatore 2012 on Windows Vista Business 32 bit. After burning several CDs from my music library, I have noticed that when I do an inventory of the CD or play the CD on my computer, the tracks are listed as Track 1, Track 2, etc. There is no listing of the Title or the Artist. All of my music in my library is stored in MP3 format and I take great pains to make sure that the "Properties" of each song include the Title, Artist, Year, Comments and Date of Creation. I have searched the knowledge base, but find no entries to help. Are there options or flags that I am missing to cause Creator to output the Title and Artist? Without this information on the CD, the CD is useless. Thank you for any help.

A first guess is that you're using Windows Media Player to play your audio CD? If so, it doesn't support CD-Text. That would be the second thing, to make sure the "Write CD Text" box is checked (in the "project settings") as you use the "Create Music Disc Projects" option to open "Music Disc Creator". I'm not sure the basic audio CD writer writes CD-Text.

So, let us know just which options you used in Creator 2012 to write your Audio CDs (there are about 2 or 3 ways to create audio CDs) so we'll know just what you're doing. But also, try playing your CDs in a player that you know supports reading/displaying CD-Text, which is NOT the same thing as the Tag information in an MP3 file. An Audio CD Track doesn't support quite as much text information as an MP3 file can.

Hope that helps!
