Touble With Tivo Premier - Split From Totally Unrelated Thread

bbphotos

Question

I have many Tivo recordings that I downloaded and play on my PC. When I use the NXT "Video copy and convert" I get a DRM (Digital Rights Management) error for all of my Tivo files. These are not copy protected files. My Tivo Premiere shows a red circle with a slash through it for any copy protected file and says so and none of the files I am trying to edit are like that. All I want to do is edit out the commercials and burn to disk.

grandpabruce,

I don't know what you mean by hijacking, All I did was post a topic. Sorry if I messed something up. Anyway I have a Tivo Premiere DVR and download to my PC with Tivo Desktop 2.8.2. I downloaded the NXT software without the antivirus running and then as I stated tried to use the Creator NXT/Video-Movies/Edit and Transfer/Copy and convert Video. When I selected "Movies" in the Add Source it brought up the media selector and it drilled down to "My Tivo Recordings" and got this error. "This folder contains files protected with digital rights management (DRM) technology. DRM protected files cannot be added to a project, so they will not be displayed." I tried selecting a few files one at a time and got the same error. I can view all of my Tivo recordings on my PC without any problem. I am using Win7 64-bit. The Tivo desktop shows all copy protected files with a red circle and a / slash in it. None of the files I tried are copy protected.

I just bought the Creater NXT and I am having the same DRM error on all of my tivo files. I am running windows7 64-bit on a AMD phenom II 6 core. As mentioned you have to use Tivo desktop to download the files to the PC and Tivo desktop won't let you copy to the PC if it is copy protected. I am not going to play around with NXT anymore and just return it. I used another program a couple of years ago when I had Vista and never had a problem. I called Tivo and they were told not to answer questions about NXT and to go to Roxio support. I explained to them that I was very happy with Tivo support and understood but that they should quit letting Roxio sell NXT because it makes them look bad. Funny thing is that in the NXT ad they actually show you that they are converting an episode of "MAD MEN". Good Luck!!
