bimicher
Walt, I can create and save new text styles, but how do you save a custom text effect? To create a custom text effect: select "Add text effect" to add some text to a panel make some modification to the text box select the "Save Custom Object" icon (to the left of the "Export As" icon on the Preview window menu bar) After saving, the "new text effect" will appear in the Custom list when you use the Add Text Effect option. This new text effect does not appear in the usertextstylle folder but is embedded in the VideoContent.psod file and cannot be removed. I believe all other custom effect also are embedded in this psod file and thus a single custom effect cannot be deleted without deleting all custom effects. karri
Are you working in VideoWave? Malatekid had a solution here, but I do not have 2012 installed to check it. http://forums.suppor...es/#entry323069 I can't seem to find an equivalent file in NXT. kana48
I did it, but unfortunately the "usertextstyle.xml" can not be found (chek box "display files, folders and drives hidden" is activated). I do not know where file.xml has been saved on my HD. May be is my PC special? It is a mistery. Thanks and have a nice week Giampaolo
kana48
I suppose have found out the file that saves the personalized text. It is named VideoContent.psod and it is located in the folder C:\Users\myname\AppData\Roaming\Roxio\EMC13\VideoUI\CustomEffects\. In fact, if I delet the file the personalized text effect icons are no longer present in the personalized text effects section. Why? Is my Roxio Creator 2012 PRO different of yours? kana48
In the same folder (VideoUI) instead of the CustomEffects folder, do you also have a folder UserTextStyles with a file called usertextstyles.xml? Yes. In the VideoUI folder there is a folder UserTextStyles, but it is empty as I already mentioned in my previous post #4. Where is the usertextstyles.xml? The mystery deepens... Deleting the VideoContent.psod will delete all custom effects not just the text effects May be. At moment it has been the only way to delete all the personalized text effects. Thank you for your patience to help me. the mistery to be continued... Giampaolo

Thank you for your patience to help me. the mistery to be continued... Giampaolo Some clatification. After playing around a bit it seems that the "usertextstyles.xml" has nothing to do with "Text effects" but is created when the user creates a new text style from the text settings window. The actual "text effects" is embedded in the VideoContent.psod file along with other custom effects created by the user. As such is seems that individual effects created by the user (text or video) cannot be deleted without deleting all effects.
karri
In NXT, if I delete the usertextstyle.xml file in this folder, C:\Users\your name\AppData\Roaming\Roxio\EMC14\VideoUI\UserTextStyles the custom text styles in VW are deleted. Yes, the same of course in C2012 but custom text styles are different from custom text effects. If you create a custom text effect and save it, there should be no custom usertextstyle.xml file created
