novideo
If adjusting tracking doesn't help, what else can I try before just returning product? --- I have tried 2 different VCR players (both work fine hooked to 2 different TVS) ---- I have tried 3 different tapes - one is an almost new Disney tape The 2 VCRs only have S-Video connection from the DVD, not the VHS. Audio works fines, just "No Video Signal" for ROXIO Easy VHS to DVD3 Plus
sknis
Uh, Perhaps you forgot to tell us which of the many Roxio products your are trying to use and which of the 30 or so application in Creator NXT if that is what you have.

novideo
the 1st 2 tapes are family dvds ... not commercial. I just tried the commercial one since I knew it would be a professional recording. But all three tapes gave the same result.
ogdens
Please verify that the S-Video cable from the DVD output that works on the TV's is the same one that you are plugging in to the Roxio capture unit.
novideo
I can only use the RCA cables from the VCR to the Roxio unit (to the PC). The S-video connection doesn't come from the VCR portion. (I only mentioned them to show I had considered copying from them, but only the DVD side comes from them.) I'm trying to copy from a VCR/DVD player to the computer thru the Roxio device to make a DVD copy on the computer.

The DVD output is using the S-Video and the VHS/VCR output is using the composite RCA cord. So answer my two questions I asked in post #6.
novideo
I haven't been able to copy the device mgr... but there is no USB 2861 device.. there are 2 copies of Roxio Video Capture USB. There is also : Intel® Display Audio and Realtek High Definition Audio. Question #1: I am not plugging the S-video into the Roxio or using it at all. What you are doing fails... repeating the very same conditions will produce the same results
ogdens
My apologies, I was reading your post completely wrong. Your Device Manager has the right entries. So you are using a composite cable (Yellow-Video, Red/White-Audio) to the Roxio unit. And this same cable when connected to a TV works fine. Have I got it right now? ogdens
VHS tape output is "not a good strong" signal, and some users have had problems with them. As a test, you could try using a external DVD player and try it, or use your existing combo DVD/VCR using the S-video output from the DVD section. Some users have success by using a external DVD player as a pass-thru. Take the VHS output and feed into the DVD player IN, then take the output of the DVD into you Roxio unit.. There is also the possibility you could have a defective Roxio unit.
novideo
The pass thru idea would be worth trying.I don't think I have all the equipment to try it. I'll have to think it thru. Thanks for all your help.
ogdens
I would recommend that you try to prove that the Roxio unit is working ok first, using a DVD player, then you will know the unit is good. Then, you can try the pass-thru idea.
Question
novideo
If adjusting tracking doesn't help, what else can I try before just returning product?
--- I have tried 2 different VCR players (both work fine hooked to 2 different TVS)
---- I have tried 3 different tapes - one is an almost new Disney tape
The 2 VCRs only have S-Video connection from the DVD, not the VHS.
Audio works fines, just "No Video Signal"
for ROXIO Easy VHS to DVD3 Plus
