macman44
I have a video DVD using PAL encoding. I want to produce an identical DVD using NTSC that I can play on my DVD player into my TV. What is the best process using Toast 11 Titanium? Thanks.
tsantee
Set NTSC as the format in Toast Preferences. Choose DVD-video as the format in the Toast Video window. Insert the PAL disc. In the Toast Media Browser choose the video tab and select the DVD. Drag the videos from the browser to the main Toast window. After they are added to the main window prepare the menu the way you want and click the burn button.
macman44
Thanks. I assume I move just the VIDEO_TS folder? There is also an AUDIO_TS file the window doesn't accept. If I drag the entire VIDEO_TS folder, do I get the original menu system, or do I have to recreate it - i.e. can I just ignore menus altogether and all will be well? tsantee
No, don't move the VIDEO_TS folder. You need to have Toast re-encode the video. In order to do this drag the video from the Toast Media Browser to the main Toast window with DVD-video selected as the format. See my previous post. You need to create a new menu or choose no menu style.
PrestonC
Hmm. I do exactly as described here, and I get this message: "You are about to create a disc with mixed PAL and NTSC content. Are you sure you want to do this?" Yet, the DVD plays in my home DVD player. Something is either not working in Toast 11.

If the resulting DVD is playing in your DVD player then everything worked out, right? Toast does give a warning message that you are about to change the video's format. When you accept this Toast then goes to an Encoding mode during which it reformats the video to NTSC.
