Encoding Menus

skulsa

Question

When trying to create a DVD, the program encodes all the related videos just fine. But when it gets to the "encoding menus" section, it hangs. I have a main menu and five sub-menus on the DVD I am trying to create. Is this too many menus, or is there a problem with the program? I tried re-installing the software with identical results. Help please.

That sounds like a lot of video items and perhaps time on the disc. How much time are you trying to put onto that disc? If you are close to 2 hours, it won't fit. The last item would be the menu. BTW, you can get only about one hour of best quality video on a single layer disc. Anything more will be reduced quality; something no one would want.

What menu template are you using and how many items (videos) are you putting on the main menu. Are the sub-menus more videos or are they chapters of the videos already on a disc.

Are you encoding directly to disc? Don't. Burn to an ISO file or to a folder set; If that finishes, you can copy either to a disc. That will separate the encoding from the burning so your computer doesn't have to work too hard. It will also allow finding out of the burning or the encoding is the issue.
