How I Solved My Ps3 No Signal Blues

sesho

Question

I've been streaming with no problems the past couple of weeks using my PS2, Xbox 360, and Wii (well, with relatively FEW problems since I started using xsplit). Last night I tried for the first time to hook up my GC HD Pro to my PS3 and quickly became frustrated. I didn't realize it was going to be such a hassle until I couldn't even get a picture on my TV. Up until this time, I had been using HDMI for the PS3. After I hooked up the offiicial Sony component cables and changed the display settings I was able to get the picture on my TV. BUT I was still getting no signal from the PS3 in the Roxio Capture program on my laptop. I spent hours messing with it and looking at tutorials on youtube and on these message boards with no success but I got a few ideas but it was like midnight by then.

Then I tried something new this morning. I went into the display settings on my PS3, unchecked the 1080p output and checked 1080i instead and the PS3 signal appeared in the Roxio program. Looks like problem is solved. So even though my TV can handle all the outputs of 480, 720, and 1080, Roxio can't decipher 1080p, only i.

Hopefully, if you are getting a no signal redline like me, my experience might help you. Good luck.

The problem wasn't the 1080p it was the HDMI.

You can't hook up the device with HDMi output from the PS3 because of HDCP issues.

Even the setup directions say not to use HDMI with the PS3.

Once you changed to the Component cables that issue was solved.

This is from the Roxio product page:

Input Formats:

  • Video: AVI, MOV, WMV, M2TS, MP4
  • Audio: MP3, WAV, WMA, AAC
  • Image: JPG, PNG, TIFF, BMP, GIF
  • Supported Recording Resolutions: 480p/i, 576p, 720p, 1080 60i/30p

You should of been watching tutorials on the Roxio site not youtube!

At 2:03 minutes in this video tutorial what does it tell you? http://www.youtube.c...fs=1&autoplay=1

um, i already knew that. I bought the component cables to stream. I meant that I WAS using HDMI BUT switched to component to use HD Pro. So, bad catch. And I spoke too soon. It's still not working correctly. And I DID watch the Roxio tutorial. Again, bad catch. I'm just doing the best I can with a user hostile product.

No it was 'good catches'...

You are throwing out a lot of misleading statements and corrections. Other users may not read the entire topic in detail to see all of your retractions and corrections

Others use a PS3 without any issues so you can't label something as Hostile simply because you haven't figured out how to use it ;)

Since you have both Xbox and PS3, does the Xbox work OK?

Also list out your PC specs including what is showing in your Device Manager???

I think you are having the same problem as me.

Have a look at this thread http://forums.support.roxio.com/topic/85253-hdmi-out-of-range/ I think certain monitors cannot 'read' the signal coming from the Game Capture HD when using component cables from a PS3. When I selected 1080i the PS3 menus displayed perfectly but when I started a game and it was forced to 720p the monitor lost signal (HDMI Out of Range Error).

Pay attention to the PS3 settings in this video.
