EEDD
Hi I'm having a problem with creating a shape from a square picture like a cameo from a square photo. It was so easy with my earlier version of Roxio. I make the shape but cannot get rid of the surrounding area. So frustrating. Somebody HELP! karri
In PhotoSuite, in the second tabbed section in the tool area (Change Objects), Click on Mask/Cutout by Shape. Then In the Mask/Cutout by Shape dialog window, click on the Circle/Ellipse shape and then on Add Selected Shape. Drag the corner and center handles to outline the part of the image you want in your selection. Then Click on Create Cutout and then in the Create Cutout from Mask Dialog window, click on Cut it Out and then OK. You should now have just the oval part of the image remaining on your canvas. EEDD
I tried that and it worked thanks. However the edges are not smooth. They are jagged. Am I doing something wrong?
karri
Did you adjust the Edge Fading slider?
EEDD
Using the edge fading does not help. I like a smooth edge around it. Why did they change the Roxio program to this? It is still frustrating me. EEDD
karri
There should be a free copy of Corel PaintShop Pro 4 in your CreatorNXT purchase. Have you taken a look at that? It is a more sophisticated program that might be worth giving a try.
EEDD
Hi Karri No I downloaded the Corel and looked at the cropping program and decided it was too sophisticated for me and promptly un-installed it. The older Roxio fixing and especiallythe cropping feature worked much better. Couldn't they do some sort of a download to repair the feature. I have a genealogy site and when I add a new person I put in a cameo photo of them. This is not going to work for me. I may have to return this program and buy Photoshop.. I have over 9,900 persons on my tree and almost 7,500 photos (some cameo and others rectangular or square.) Isn't there some other solution to this cameo problem. I have always used Roxio. sknis
What resolution is that image? I think I know where you are going and agree. The basic PhotoSuite hasn't changed, except for name in a long time. How much earlier was your earlier version? If there is an issue, it may be with the image, computer or other; I don't think it is the program.
EEDD
Hi I think that photo is old and I took it from a website. I don't think I should base my decision on that photo. I tried a newer photo taken recently and it's fine. My earlier version was Roxio 10 and it was definitely easier to use. All you had to do was choose your shape and then crop it. The newer version takes much longer to do and has more stages. I work with a lot of old photos. EEDD
sknis
So, disregarding the effort to do it, the problem was with that photo and there is nothing more we can do?
EEDD
Hi I'll continue to use this Roxio program and try to get used to it. If i have any other problems I'll be back. Thanks for all your efforts. EEDD
