Saving Creator Project To Ext. Hard Drive

Tolland

Question

My OS is Windows 7 64 bit. Working in Video Wave (Roxio Creator 2011) I saved my finished project to my external hard drive. I copied both the .dat file and the .dmsm file from My Videos to External Drive F:\

When I "open the project" in Drive C:\ on my desktop all my pictures open properly. However when I try opening the project on my external hard drive I must browse to the file where pictures are located manually. This works for the pictures I have not edited in Video Wave but I cannot find the file containing the pictures which I edited with Video Wave because they were saved in another file (User\appdata\local\temp\myDVD-temp) and this file was not saved to my hard drive and I cannot find it even on my drive C\:

I am OK now but if my main drive goes out or I have to reinstall Windows (which happened two month ago) I am afraid I will never find the file with copied pictures edited in Video Wave. Help!!!!!!

Unless you use Output (Export as) no output is created. Whwn you use Save or Save as, all you are saving is the project files (the dmsm file, the dat file is not important). Edits made in Videowave are not "executed" until you do an Export to create a video file. That is no files are actually edited until the Export. Also the original source files are never changed unless you deliberately overwrite them

Moving a project file to another drive will often cause the resource file to become "missing" and they will have to be relinked. Whenever I create a project, I create a new folder just for that project and I copy all the files used in that project into the folder. I then make a copy of that folder on an external drive. That way everything is always together
