How To Get To Pan And Zoom Editor?

mmarchant

Question

I am using Roxio Creator 2012. I have created a slide show and would like to adjust the pan and zoom on some of my photos. Right now I have the "apply pan and zoom to all" checked. I see Pan & Zoom editor under "movie" tab at the top but it is greyed out. What are the steps I need to do to change some of the pan and zooms that were done automatically by checking that button.

If you are working in VideoWave, you should be able to right click on the individual images in the timeline or storyline and select Edit > Pan and Zoom Editor from the context menu. If you are working in another program post back with more detail.

I found the Edit Video in the advanced area but my file is a .dmsd which videowave won't read. I tried to save my project as something else in MyDvd but I only get .dmsd as an option. Any ideas?

First of all there is absolutely nothing wrong and the program is behaving just as it should.

A dmsd file is not a video file, it contains absolutely no video. It is the myDVD project file and simply contains the list of the resource used in your project (such as images, videos, transitions, etc). It is the project file that is created when you select Save or Save As. It can only be opened by myDVD. The program Videowave also creates its own project which has the extension dmsm. This file is similar to the dmsd file in that it contains similar info but it only covers the editing part of a video project. The dmsd file will contain information on editing but in addition may also have information on the menu creation and burning processes.

Saving a project (in Videowave and myDVD) does not create any video file. To create a video file you have to use the Output or Export option.

Most users create a video project in Videowave where they do the editing, etc and then save the project as a dmsm project file. After closing Videowave, myDVD is launched and now you can add the dmsm project file as a movie. This method is the best way to do a video project.

Since you seem to have created your video project using myDVD, select the slideshow and then select the Edit Movie task. A version of Videowave will open and you should find the Pan&Zoom editor using Karris instructions in post #2

Thanks for the info myguggi, grandpabruce & karri. Unfortunately when I edit the movie it doesn't open Videoware and I can only edit the images like crop, rotate, etc. I guess I will have to redo the project in Videoware. It is rather large 450 photos to add and get in the right order again. I am puzzled by the option Movie > pan & zoom editor being in MyDVD but I can't get to it since it is greyed out. I'll know for the next time that I should start with Videoware and then bring it into MyDVD.

Can you launch myDVD, click on Help and then About and post the version and build number?

MyDVD "contains" Videowave although it behaves slightly different then the version you launch from Edit Video-advanced. You still have all the editing options available though.

After launching myDVD and opening your project file, click on the movie you want to edit and then click Edit Movie. Switch to the Storyline, right-click on a panel and a drop down menu opens with a Edit option. Move the mouse over Edit and a new menu opens showing the Pan&Zoom Editor which you should click to open the Pan&Zoom Editor.

If this does not happen then I don't know what is going on. Please list the steps you are taking and be specific about what options, etc you are click.

I just tried a test in MyDVD NXT version and if I create a slideshow in MyDVD, I cannot access the Pan and Zoom either. Clicking on Edit Movie just takes me back to the Slideshow wizard?

A big reason to never use the Slideshow Wizard. I guess the OP must have used the Wizard and is stuck with what he has now or he can start all over.

I'll just redo it. There is no option for storyline in MyDVD. The project was for a funeral so I had to quickly put something together and did so with out knowledge of Roxio Creator Products. It has since grown in size and is a memory of both my grandparents. On a side note has anyone had trouble with audio coming out just one speaker? No matter what audio options I choose it only plays sound out of one side. I'm hoping when exporting it from VideoWave and into MyDVD will correct the audio problem. I choose dolby, but it doesn't work.
