In videowave, I went to Output then send to My DVD, and burned it from there. The slideshow I burned to DVD works okay until about 1/2 way through and then there are some slides that go blank during the transition for more than what all the other slides do. Like I said, the dvd works fine in my computer just not in the dvd player. I am not real computer savvy. I find this program difficult to use and have just sort of worked my way through it. I would sure like to get better at using it as I do keepsake slide shows after cruises for everyone who went. I certainly appreciate your help!!

Actually it is not that difficult. The problem is that users often start off with a major project and run into difficulties quickly because they are not yet familiar with some of the features and methods. That learning process is not overnight and takes time.

Since the DVD plays perfectly on your DVD player on your computer then the software worked correctly and the problem maybe incompatibility between the make of DVDs you are using and your stand-alone DVD player. Get some Verbatim DVDs, they are generally very good quality. Sony's are considered so-so (Sony does not actually make their DVDs but uses other makers and puts their label on them)

I would also suggest getting a few RW DVDs which you can use for testing. Once you are happy with your project you can burn to regular DVDs , erase the RW DVDs and reuse them.

Is the problems always at the same location in the slideshow?

You could try removing all the transitions and burn to RW DVD and test. (Make a copy of your original project file first though)

Thank you so very much for your time. I will go get some different blank DVD's as well as a few of the RW ones. It seems to be always in the same place where the problem occurs. I will definitely keep plugging along. I did a memorial slide show for a friend who is terminally ill and it was about 100 pictures. Everything seemed to work ok with that. I have done some research and found a tutorial of sorts on the internet, and while it was for a 2009 version, it seemed to help me figure it out. I also had the manual printed and bound for reference. Thanks again!

Have you played the DVD on another DVD player?

At what speed did your burn the DVD? Burning at the max speed may cause problems like you are experiencing that is why many of us always burn at lower speeds.

You say it always occurs at the same place. Is that when you play the same DVD or have you burned another DVD?

There are lots of tutorials on youTube. Also some of the gurus in this forum (karri and sknis especially) have created all sorts of tutorials. I don't have the links handy but will try to find them and post them.

Unfortunately the Roxio manuals are very poor. If you have any problems or wish to know how to do something, just drop in here and ask away. Somebody will try to help.

A couple of things that I will add to Walt's excellent suggestions. First, in MyDVD, the default setting for quality is Fit To Disc. Change that to High Quality HQ.

Second, burn to a Folder Set, not directly to a DVD. Once the Folder Set is done, you can then burn it to a DVD using Video Copy and Convert (Copy and Convert Video under Video/Movies).

I appreciate all the help !! Thank you so much. I would love to have the links to the tutorials if anyone has them... Here is one other random question........When I begin a slideshow, I drag the photos into the storyline. At first the photos are clear and I can see them very well, but as I add more and more, they become distorted and it's hard to see what the picture is. Does anyone know why this happens and is it something I am doing?

Go to the folder, where you save your productions. You should see 2 files, with whatever name you gave your production. Delete the file with the .dat file extension. Then open your production again, and your photos, on Timeline, should look right.

I did a slide show of our wedding. It plays fine in my computer, but when I play it in the DVD player, it has some long pauses in the transitions.... Any idea what the problem is??

No idea at all. You have not even told us what software program you are using.

Once you do that, your thread ill be moved to the correct forum and maybe someone will be able to help you.

I created this slideshow in videowave. It is 31.32.26 minutes. I burned it to a Sony DVD-R 120 min. 4.7 GB. There are a couple of videos inserted in the slide show, but they seem to work fine. When I set it up, I used the default settings.

How did you burn the slideshow to a DVD? What program from C2011 did you use?

Also, what do you mean by "long pauses in the transitions"?
