Install Says I Need Emc 10 Installed - Split From Non-Related Topic

nudnik0315

Question

I also love this product, so when I too bought a new computer, the CD would install about 90% and then I'd get a message saying that I need to install Roxio Easy Media Creator 10...this message comes at the point where the EMC 10 content file is to be downloaded. At that point the whole installation reverses and everything gets deleted..amazing...please advise on how to install this..I have an HP running windows 7 and I deleted Norton antivirus, which tends to be the root of all evil..thanks

Hello,

I could only find one topic where this is mentioned in the Easy CD & DVD Burning forum, and it's here: http://forums.support.roxio.com/topic/75656-you-must-install-roxio-easy-media-creator-10-before-content/

Jim Hardin posted a link to a KnowledgeBase solution for the problem, but all the old KnowledgeBase links have been disrupted by changes in the Board and I can't find a copy of that one.

Jim might remember in general terms what that KB article recommended you to do.

 I don't even remember the question!

It seems to indicate an earlier install is getting in the way...

Is that the case? Perhaps something that was installed on the PC at the time you bought it???

Check in Control Panel - Programs and Features to see if anything Sonic or Roxio is listed.

Nicely found, Steve.

Nudnick, the Hotfix file in the article Steve has found was written to remove a corrupted registry key in Creator 2009, and cure this problem.

The software you have is a cut-down and modified version of Easy Media Creator 10, but I believe that this registry key was pretty similar between EMC 10 and Creator 2009, so it might still work for you.

Regards,

Brendon
