Error Part Way Through Burning A Dvd

Part-way through the various stages of burning a DVD from an iMovie file, I get two messages:

 

'Couldn't complete the last command because of a Mac OS Error. Result Code = -5001', and

 

'The drive reported an error:

Sense Key = ILLEGAL REQUEST

Sense Code = 0 x 21, 0 x 02

BUFFER UNDERRUN'

 

The burning stops at that point and yet another DVD gets hoiked in the waste bin.

 

The program is running on a MacBook Pro. Any ideas what's going wrong?

This shouldn't happen (of course). I suggest choosing Save as Disc Image instead of clicking the burn button. When that is finished burn the resulting .toast file using the Image File setting in the Copy window.

 

You might try a different brand of blank disc (such as Verbatim). Or choose a different burn speed other than best. The burn speed is set in the Recorder Settings window after a blank disc is inserted and recognized.
