Editing Fail

badmankevin

Question

hey guys so im trying to edit some videos that i made with my roxio hd pro but 3 things went wrong. 1.when i edit the video (batman arkham city) with the official roxio editing stuff the sound isnt synchronized with the video. 2. when i try to edit the video with windows movie maker it just skips video parts (mostly cutscenes) and ive tryed it on multiple computers. 3. putting the video i recorded in sony vegas pro doesnt work at all. it just crashes in an instant.

if anybody could tell how to edit a roxio hd pro video ( i prefer moviemaker over the other 2) then please let me know.

btw ive recorded a guitar hero video and i could edit it just fine but thats propably cause i didnt record any cutscenes.

Sound Sync has been an issue with all video editors from day one

Actually, PC specs and Video Card (drivers & software) seem to have an effect on this

Known issues and fix for Sony Vegas is pinned in the Capture sub-forum.

I suggest

A defrag of your hdd

Clear your VW Cache (Tools - Options Proxy Files - Clear)

Try again

Also (if no improvement) try setting to Sofware Render (Tools - Options - Render)

What are your output settings when you render???

PC Specs? ;)

hey guys ive got this problem. whenever im recording a game it works just fine but when i start like a campaign game and a cutscene starts the entire recording gets messed up. this makes it impossible to edit it anywere. videowave (for some kind a reason) does something and whenever the cutscene starts the sound wont synchronize with the video anymore. and dont even ask me about windows movie maker. i really like using this simple editing thingy put when i put the video in its works just fine untill a cutscene starts and then movie maker kinda just skips the entire cutscene.

please help me, im from holland so maybe this has something to do with it. i play with HDMI on 1080p. ive also tryed 720p and 480p but none of m work. please if somebody can help me and make sure i didnt just spend €120,- for nothing.

Please don't the same question in different places - it is confusing!

Your English is great but I do not understand what exactly is going on???

...You are recording and then there is a cutscene, after which you continue to record...

Then when you end, what is the issue? Just the Audio Sync after the cutscene point???

Can you do a short recording of this, maybe only 5 or 10 seconds long and post the raw mts file on a site like UpForDown so we can look at it???

Do other users see this problem?

well i just tryed recording but it my fraps recording got messed up. im going to try to explain it.

this is what happens:

i record my video of batman arkham city. in the preview screen everything runs smooth. then when im done recording i watch the video and everything seems to be fine. except for one small thing. in the game you first have to fight as catwoman, then you walk up to a safe and you press A on your controller. then a cutscene starts and what i find kinda weard is that the play bar( you know when you watch a video with vlc or media player the line on the bottom that moves while the video is playing) just stops. after about 2 seconds the line continues and the video just goes on. then when i try to put the video into windows movie maker at the part what i just talked about, movie maker just skips about 20 seconds of gameplay and goes on. when i try to save this the video i just saved is completely messed up with one big black screen. the other weird thing is when i recorded guitar hero gameplay and i tryed to edit that it worked just fine but i think that was because there were no cutscenes. the next thing that happens is that when i try to edit my video with sony vegas it just crashed emmediatly. the lalst thing i tryed was editing it with the roxio videowave but during the cutscene i was just talking about the video stops for a couple second but the sounds keeps going wich after some time just makes the entire video not synchronized with the sound

i really like making videos but if i cant edit them what CAN i do, please help

Well that is a little odd!

I don't even have a gamebox, let alone a game to play so I will have to rely on some of the other Gamers to try this and see if they can replicate it  (even if you can't that would be a big help to know that!)

As I said, you cannot edit in Vegas!!!! It can be done and is posted in a pinned post HERE and HERE! If you don't follow the instructions there, it isn't going to work for you...

When I recorda video. I add external sound clips to the video. (ie. like parts from a song or something). but when i export the video the sounds clips are different than from when i originall edit it.

Example. I add the second line of a song chorus to a certain part of the video, but when i export it, it plays either part of the first line, or a shortened version of what i originally edited.

They are OVERLAYs...

That means they Lay Over everything before them ;)

What you can do it make sure you place them on Narriation, Music or SFX Tracks. Then you can adjust the Audio Level of each by double clicking on the track!

Here I have opened the Native Audio Track and lowered the Audio Level:

For the other two, I added them where I want them and adjusted the Level to suite me.
