What software do you have on your computer or on a disc. My guess is that the drivers have been corrupted and need to be reinstalled before you plug in the device. Bill Dempsey
In the above message, I clicked the link but found no way to tell you what version I have. I have Roxiio Creator 2012 pro and Roxio video capture USB Unfortunately in attempting to get paid support they want me to register my product. Which already was registered. They can't find my email address on their system. Sorrry about all that. Some time ago I actually got on the phone an made a contact. They told me I purrchases the Video capture device USB in 2009 and the Creatror in 2012. How would they know all thia stuff if I did not register both products? I know you are trying to help and that is really appreciated All I really need to find out is 1. Does the Video capture device have software and if so how can I get it? 2. Is there a manual for this product? It has been a long time since I used the Capture device and my PC went down several times since then so I really have nothing other than the device itself. Please help. Bill
sknis
It sounds like you are trying to use the capture function in Creator 2012 using the USB device that you bought in 2009 (Xp or Vista compatible). . I don't believe that the currently available drivers will work with the 2009 device. You must have bought software to go with the device. Go here; there is a download for the Windows Drivers on the upper right.of the page for the current USB device.. It is the right driver for the Creator 2012 software but I doubt that it will work with the older USB device. That is about the time W7 came in so there were several older programs that would no longer work on a W7 computer. You would have to uninstall the current drivers using Device Manager with the device plugged in, unplug the device, reboot and then install the drivers and finally plug in the USB device. But as I said before, I don't think that the current drivers would work. There is no harm in trying though. What software did you get with the USB device? That is what you are probably need to use unless it is not compatible with your current operating system. I won't comment on your experience with Roxio/Corel technical service. Jim_Hardin
I am thinking that the drivers are part of the Creator 2012 install, as they are in NXT... Bill has never said the device does not actually work, only that he does not know how to use the software... If I am interpreting that correctly all he has to do is open Creator 2012, go to the Video-Movies tab and simply click on Capture Video.
sknis
I would agree but it sounds like he has used the software and the device in the distant past. That is why I asked if he had other software. Obviously, he has not used Creator 2012 to capture.

The Roxio USB Capture Device Drivers are in my C2010 Pro, C2011 Pro, C2012 Pro, and CNXT Pro downloads or retail installation disc's. I checked C2011 Pro not there. sknis
The issue is still will the old USB device use the drivers that come with Creator 2012. The OP needs to respond on the questions asked about when he got the 2009 USB device and what program came with it.

The OP needs to respond on the questions asked about when he got the 2009 USB device and what program came with it. YES, the old USB device works using the drivers in Creator 2010 Pro, 2011 Pro, 2012 Pro, and CNXT. CNXT works with both the old and new Roxio Capture Device and has the drivers. The Capture Device wasn't available when Creator 2009 Ultimate software launched, my USB Device came with Easy VHS to DVD 1st edition. I wrote the Installing Easy Vhs To Dvd On Vista Home Premium 32 Sp1 Started by cdanteek, 19 Feb 2009 The USB Capture Device was probably made available sometime in 2009. sknis
Yes, Bill should have the drivers installed with Creator 2012 but apparently they were not since he can't get the device to work. Please explain your rationale for "I wouldn't download and install the drivers sknis linked you to!" Are you saying they are the wrong drivers? If Bill can install the correct drivers from that link, then perhaps he doesn't need to run a full repair on the program. -- just speculating on why the drivers were listed on that page. He would still need to remove the current drivers (if they are listed in Device Manager" and then install the downloaded drivers and then plug in the device. Any additional discussion should wait until Bill comes back and gives us more information; I'll wait.

The download drivers don't show me that, why muckup his install with those USB Device drivers? That's not what you told him, you told him to download and install the drivers from the link! Downloading and installing drivers you linked to is never going to fix a botched USB Driver install! If any are wrong they would have to be removed first with the device plugged in then remove the device and run repair or the correct x .msi. Have him post a screen shot of device manager with the USB Device plugged in with Sound Video and Game Controllers expanded along with Other Devices? That way you'll know where Bill's at.
