Is there a magic number of pixels that my pictures need to be to take up all the space and not have that black background? Pixels? No. It is more the size ratio of the images. I believe that the program uses a 4 by 3 video ratio like an old style TV/DVD Not many cameras give images at 4 by 3. For instance, my Nikon is more of a 3 by 2 ratio. What camera do you have? What is the image ratio? If you have an image editor, you could make a image with the right ratio but you will probably either cut some of it off or you would have to use a color background to fill in those black edges.
