Creator 2011 Missing Ordinal 459

sd-papaw

Question

My Creator 2011 quit working - I am getting the following error message "The ordinal 459 could not be located in the dynamic link library urlmon.dll." I have tried de-installing and re-installing the product from the original disk without success. I am running Vista as my operating system.

I see you have misread my post (again). All versions need IE (at least to register), WMP and Quicktime for Apple type formats.

I was not saying that the OP needed those to solve his problem (registration), just to help make it run properly.

Again, wrong....

Since YOU want to keep this up, some Europen versions do not have IE included but it can be added later.

Also you can remove (disable it).

Windows 7 and Windows 8 allow one to safely remove (or turn off) Internet Explorer. Doing so removes the browser's executable file, unregisters its HTTP shell protocol handlers, and removes the icons from the user interface.[2]Dependencies such as the Trident layout engine are not removed through this process, but the Internet Explorer executable (iexplore.exe) is removed without harming any other Windows components, thus preventing Internet Explorer itself from running. It was proposed that a special version of Windows 7, Windows 7 E, would be shipped without Internet Explorer in Europe as a result of EU antitrust investigations against Microsoft.[3][4][5][6][7] However, in July 2009, Microsoft cancelled the Windows 7 E editions due to negative reactions from computer manufacturers.[8]

I know that is confusing but ...

Now, I truly have enough of this post and your negativity.

I already explained that. ;)

Do you or the OP live in Europe?

Truth or fiction the choice is yours.

No one said it needed to be TURNED ON; just that it had to be on the computer.

 Please tell me how not to have Internet Explorer Browser on the computer in W-7?

You can't!

You can only turn windows features on or off for Internet Explorer Browser via, Control Panel\All Control Panel Items\Programs and Features\Turn Windows Features On Or Off.

Well, I did have a clue, but somehow, what Steve told the OP about the software requiring IE, in response to his question, went over your head. There is no argument here.

1. There is no registration process needed for C2011 to work properly.

2. "The ordinal 459 could not be located in the dynamic link library urlmon.dll." Is a Internet Explorer Browser issue caused by a older version of IE and the Microsoft patch KB2847204 installed with the older browser.

3. Once the OP updated his IE Browser his "The ordinal 459 could not be located in the dynamic link library urlmon.dll." was fixed.

4. The OP and (others) made the assumption you need IE turned on for C2011 to work properly, not so.

If you had a clue what the real problem was before you chimed in defending useless so called facts posted after the OP solved the problem.

Now you want to argue about, fine I'm done here, post solved. :)

What part of Post #8 did you not read, and what part of Post #9 did you misread???? It isn't drift. It is fact.

Steve is right. Have you ever read the requirements for installing and registering any of the last many software suites? ;)

Ozzo, explained his fix before the drift, it had nothing to do with this post..

And now you want to add to it!

Problem Solved!!! You gave me an idea to turn on Internet Explorer, I updated to the new IE 10, Completed the registration process which was not possible before due to the ordinal error. Obviously Creator 2011 needs internet explorer to work. Thanks so much for the assistance :)

Why I asked "Are you using Internet Explorer?" ;)

Microsoft patch KB2847204 trashing a Microsoft operating system/Browser (even for those not using its browser)

Why I asked about the update. ;)

You can shut off IE now and Roxio should work without a problem.

It always has -- along with Windows Media Player and sometimes Quicktime in order to load the codecs needed for the various file formats.

Wrong, it has nothing to do with "Windows Media Player and sometimes Quicktime in order to load the codecs needed for the various file formats."

Hi

I recently cleared and rebooted my Laptop and tried reinstalling Creator 2011. I am running Window 7 Home Premium SP1. I have the same issue as above and have tried the SFC. I states "Windows Resource Protection did not find any integrity violations". I am at a loss, please help :)

Are you using Internet Explorer?

What version?

Look for a installed update KB2847204?

Hello,

I think your urlmon.dll file may have been corrupted so that Creator can't find what it wants to use in that DLL.

URLMON.DLL is a Microsoft Windows system file, so reinstalling Creator 2011 isn't going to repair a broken one.

The file version differs with your Windows version, and you haven't told us what version of Windows you're using. However if you're using XP then you could run Microsoft's System File Checker [sFC] to check your system files and repair/replace the DLL if necessary.

Please see the description of, and instructions for SFC here: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/310747 Repairing that file should cure your problem.

Regards,

Brendon

I am running Vista as my operating system and the solution you gave does not apply to Vista - I hope there is another way to restore my file. I do appreciate you quick response.

I successfully ran the SFC for Vista, but it did not fix my problem. I am getting the same error. My wife tried to use Shutterfly this morning and got the message that she needed to have Adobe Flash Player installed. When I tried to load it, I got the same error message ordinal 459 not found. I appreciate any help.
