Rgc Shows Up As Transcoder In Device Manager

ShutUpAndRun

Question

I have read many of the forums talking of this specific problem and even used my free support e-mail thing. Everything tell me the same thing.

1: Uninstall TRANSCODER/Unplug

2: Reboot

3: Anti-Virus off, Repair, Anti-Virus On

4: Reboot

5: Test

I have tried many combinations that I did not find suggested, even uninstalling RGC completely and nothing has worked.

No matter what I do, when I plug the RGC back in, it still shows up as TRANSCODER and the device driver software was not found/successful/installed.

When I first installed my RGC HD PRO yesterday, the RGC showed up fine, but there was a red "no signal" so I just re-installed it and now I have this problem.

I DO understand (now) that you should not plug in a device while or before installing the software.

Setup:

Xbox 360 > HDMI > Roxio > Laptop (via USB, Vista) & TV (via HDMI)

I have spent countless hours trying to get this to work so any and all help is appreciated for I have now become desperate.

I have tried doing this multiple times, I must be missing something, is there another solution?

It seems that whenever I repair or re-install RGC, the driver does not install. Correct me if I am wrong.

Also, under Programs and Features, after installing/repairing, I see no driver for roxio, should there be one there?

It is back to TRANSCODER again, not sure what happened there.

See that bothers me WHO here told you to do the process with variations?

What variations?

I'm reluctant to give you other instructions if your going to do variations of those instructions!

A other user suggested you using revo uninstaller if you run a 64 bit OS download the pro version here. http://www.revounins...e_download.html

Uninstall the driver in device manager, remove the RGC HD Pro USB Device and leave it unplugged until the software is reinstalled.

First backup your registry, if you don't know how, Google for it with your operating system.

Be careful with this registry cleaner and I mean CAREFUL!

Run revouninstaller in moderate mode and remove all traces of the RGC HD Pro software. When finished reboot the PC.

Follow this guide when reinstalling the software, http://forums.suppor...install-option/

After the RGC software is installed reboot the PC, when the PC is up and running open device manager and plugin the RGC USB Device and tell us what shows?

I have this problem too, except my RGC was working fine until mysteriously it didn't work one day. I followed each instruction you listed here to a T, and still it didn't work :(. All that comes up under Sound, video, and game controllers is AMD High definition Audio Device, Cyberlink Webcam Virtual Driver, and IDT High Definition Audio CODEC. Nothing about Roxio. Under USB controllers it just comes up as Unknown Device.

I asked about the Disc (please look again) as we did have one user who kept installing but was using the disc from the Roxio Game Capture for Consoles

That disc has a driver for that specific hardware and would never, every work with the GameCAP Pro...

You will never see a driver for anything listed in Windows Programs and Features!

Drivers only show up in the Device Manager.

Please outline the steps you are taking, in order and in detail ^_^

Do any error or warnings show up?

Also it is time for you to give us your Install Logs - see the pinned post on what and how to do that.

Yes, I am using the Game Capture HD Pro DVD.

-Device Manager > TRANSCODER > Right Click > Uninstall

-Unplug RGC

-Restart

-Anti-Virus Off

-Insert Disk

-Repair

-Remove Disk

-Anti Virus On

-Restart

-Device Manager > TRANSCODER > Cry

The only error warnings I encounter is the one that tells me that TRANSCODER cannot be configured.

Two days ago when I installed this stuff for the first time, it showed up normally, is there another file that could be causing problems?

Maybe, when RGC is uninstalled, there is a program that was installed with the DVD that is not deleted which could cause problems when re-installing it?

I see many posts with the same TRANSCODER problem, yet for some reason, for my case, the solutions do not work.

I saw that on one of those posts you said you had another solution? Care to share?

Are you sure your following the directions?

See we test this stuff and know if you plugin the USB Device before installing the software disc with the USB Driver you get TRANSCODER under other devices.

And we know how to fix it because we have did it ourself. Now I can't reach over and do it for you so get someone to go over it with you, check all your connections and do it again.

My test at plugging in the USB Device before the software and driver are installed.

Alright, I tried again, and it does not work. I have repeated this process so many times with multiple variations, I've been sweeping through these forums and double/triple/quad checking my steps.

However, when I tried disabling the TRANSCODER before uninstalling/reboot/repair/etc, when I plugged it back in in the end, it still showed up as disabled, yet not in a different usb port.

This leads me to think that when I right click it and select uninstall in the device manager, it for some reason isn't fully uninstalled, this is just a haunch, but it would explain why I cannot get the correct driver for it.

Is there another way to uninstall it? Or a way to check? All that happens when I select uninstall is that it disappears from the device manager, if I plug it back in, it pops back up again.

Thanks in advance.

This is kind of a Triple Whammy approach to this...

It will involve a complete removal, creating a new user and installing.

First, insert the RGC Device and in your Device Manager, Uninstall any and all entries you see for it.

Now Remove the Device until much later...

Next, download and install the Revo Uninstaller and run in moderate mode!

(this will remove all traces of RGC)

In your Control Panel, create a New User Account. Make sure this account has full Administrative Previledges.

Turn off AV, Firewalls etc. and Reboot to this new account.

Copy your entire disc to a new folder on your HDD.

In that new folder, right click on Setup.exe and select Properties.

Under the Compatibility tab, make sure
nothing
is checked!

Right click Setup.exe and select Open.

Allow it to Check for Updates (this is for Roxio not Windows)

Use the Default Locations!

Reboot to that Account and try it out.

Why it "shows up as TRANSCODER", most don't understand that after 30 posts!

Search the installation forum for a similar more detail post to get you up and working.

I did do that, I'm sure. Leave the disc out until anti-virus is turned off right? That is what I did, multiple times actually...On a previous post, you offered that you had another way, But it was not needed, can you share it now?

I have done this so many times, it DOES NOT WORK for me. I double and triple checked the steps in multiple posts, and nothing works.

With the RGC USB Device plugged in open device manager, expand the Sound Video and Game Controller, and other devices. Take a screen cap and post the pic.

Ok, so as desperate as I am, I did a system restore, because it worked before, and now this is what it looks like:

So where are we now? Is the RGC Software installed?

You need to quit doing things and wait until we explain to you what needs done, otherwise I'm wasting my time.

Got it?

Ok, and yes, the RGC software is installed. But the driver or w/e still does not work and my green "no signal" does not change when I unplug the RGC and it also has no text after source: or Input:

I have to go outside and remove seven inches of snow that has fallen overnight, so I don't have all day here.

Follow this carefully, with the RGC USB Device plugged in right click on the Roxio GameCap HD Pro entry in Device Manager under Sound Video and Game Controller and click uninstall, ok, unplug the RGC USB Device from the PC and reboot the PC. Leave the RGC USB Device unplugged until I tell you to plug it back in. Shut off all running programs especially antivirus/firewall software, put the installation disc in a DVD Drive and choose repair when it's offered and run it, when it's finished remove the disc and reboot the PC.

When the PC is up and running open device manager and plugin the RGC USB Device and see what changes in device manager, you should see one entry for Roxio GameCap HD Pro with no yellow exclamation mark next to it.

Good luck on that snow cd! I hope it all falls along the wayside before it reaches PA

The Green, 'No Signal' is an indication that the device is not recognized!!!

Most likely it comes from not getting the Drivers installed properly!

Follow cd's instructions to ensure they are!

It can also be the Port you are using, so AFTER you get the drivers installed, try different ports.

You must follow the steps that have been outlined... There is NO driver for it in Windows and as long as the Wrong one has been assigned, it will always use that one!

It must be Uninstalled in the Device Manager to go away and the corect one installed after that -_-

Just on a wild hunch, confirm that you are using a disc just like this one:
