Hdmi Output Is Not Working

Question

Hello. I got my new Roxio Game Capture HD Pro in today. I was pretty stoked to try it out.

Got it unboxed, installed the software on the CD, plugged in the console to the HDMI-In, plugged my TV to the HDMI out, and plugged the box itself into my USB Port.

Now, here's the catch. The HDMI-In appears to work fine. I can see my game console on the preview window in all its glory...

The problem is that there is absolutely no output to the TV. If I unplug the RGC and try either of the HDMI cables directly to my game console, it works like a charm with my TV (as I would expect).

I've tried this with both my Xbox 360 and Wii U, and as I've said, both could capture fine, but I'm getting absolutely no output to my TV, and that's a big deal. There's some pretty ridiculous lag going through the USB port, so the TV is a must :)

Any ideas/suggestions? Is the HDMI-out port probably bad on this unit and I just need to get another one?

Register the product first off.

Once you do that you will receive an email with a support code that's good for 14 days with a way to contact a support person.

They can then tell you if it should be returned or not.

From the sounds of it I'd say it looks like there could be a problem but I can't say for sure.

I registered my product before I even tried to open the software I'd installed. I have two emails from said registration process. I see nothing at all related to a support code. Can you please advise?

Would it make a difference if I totally uninstalled and reinstalled Roxio related things? I've tried that once already, but it did nothing regarding the HDMI Output of the device. Also note - I've noticed on other threads that the device has to be plugged into the computer via USB for the passthrough to work. I've also tried this with no success.

99.99% it is the TV...

It will not show up automatically, you must set the TV to the HDMI Port you are using!

Of course the RGC Device must be powered on, as you noted.

Try the Component Output, even if you have to move something to test it with!

To make sure you are registered, open the software and click on Help - Register Now... That should trigger the email for 14 days or Tech Support ;)

Of course you have 30 days to make an exchange of the product but as I mentioned a dead port is pretty rare.

I've tried this with three different HDTVs, one of which is only 720p, but the other two support 1080p. I've also tried it with three separate HDMI cables leading out to the various televisions. I also know it's ridiculous, but I tried passing my in-line to the out-port and vice versa to see if it made a difference.

There is nowhere in the Roxio Game Capture HD Pro application that I am able to register my product - not under the Help menu, File menu, or Tools. That said, I've already registered the product with Roxio on their website. I've yet to receive an email with anything related to tech support, but I do have two emails that confirm my registration with Roxio.

I've even tried manually plugging up red/white audio out and passing those out, and I couldn't even get the audio out to work!

I've tried updating the software, completely removing all software and drivers and reinstalling them. I've tried various other solutions that you've offered to other users on the forums as well (dorking with various output settings on the Xbox console, etc.). I've even tried doing all of this from both my beefy gaming PC and my moderate laptop.

As for the Component-Out, I do not keep component cables since I do not use them. I bought this specific hardware because it offered both HDMI-in and HDMI-out as a feature, and all of my monitors support that.

I apologize if I seem a bit on edge. I've tried to cover all of my bases, though, including knowledge that I've dug up from other posts in this forum, but none of it seems to work, and it appears my only options are to either return this hardware and give up on the idea, purchase new hardware (likely from another manufacturer this time), or wait a couple of days for their phone-in tech support.

Sorry. I have exhausted every possible option I know of. I even carried a 40" television down my hall to try this out (because it was easier than carrying a 50 lb desktop).

Is there a list of approved televisions? How can I tell if my television / HDMI monitor should work with RGC HD? Is it possible to alter the output of the device in any way?

You are trying to tell me you don't have "Register Software" in your Help options???

Can you return it to where you bought it for an exchange?

If your using HDMI are your TV's and or monitors HDCP compliant?

Also - I was trying this with my Xbox 360 and Wii U. I know the HDMI won't properly work with the PS3 because of HDCP.

Any more suggestions are welcome! I appreciate your time looking at this with me.

You keep jumping to the wrong conclusions  A monitor that is NON-HDCP compliant will throw an error message.

As I mentioned before the only other thing I would like to see tested in Componet... You don't have to have component cables, just any 3 RCA cables will do - I mark mine with tape or magic marker to keep them straight ;)

What about exchanging the product where you bought it?

I did not get any warning.

I could not get HDMI or component from the source through the RGC Device to a monitor or TV using HDMI to DVI-D adapters anyway I tried when I used a non HDCP monitor or TV to view with. Connect it to a monitor or TV with HDCP capabilities I got RGC pass through.

I have got a warning when trying to play Blu ray content on a PC with it connected to a non HDCP Monitor.

You are probably right, the Error message is not a sure thing!

But his HDMI DOES work when connected directly and has tried this with various TV sets...

Out of all that, you would think that One would work

I recall one other user, in Europe, that had to replace the RGC Device because the Pass Through did not work.

So it's fair to say that the device I've got is not properly working.

I ordered it from I'm Amazon. Given that it isn't working as it should, I'm pretty sure they'll let me return the unit.

Thanks for all of help! Guess I just pulled the short straw on this unit. C'est la vie!
