Burning A Dvd Hangs Up At 97% When Videowave Stops Working

TOBsBF

Question

I am using Creator 2012, and when I was trying to burn a DVD the burn project got to 97%, at "record menus", and stopped, giving me the message that VideoWave has stopped working. I uninstalled and then reinstalled Creator 2012, and the problem still exists. In the meantime I copied my movie files to a different computer and used Creator 2010, and was able to complete my project. But I want to be able to use this computer to do DVD projects. I appreciate any help that anyone can give me.

The last message doesn't make sense to me. What should I do?

Sometimes it is better to use the quote reply to make sure that the "last" means the same to all of us.

Did you try using Video Copy and Convert to burn the disc? What happened?

If the disc does not burn, it could be that some of the blank discs in the pack are bad - it happens -- or that your burner is going bad and can't write to the outside edge of a disc. Do you have 2 burners - use the other? If not, then beg/borrow/or buy a few GOOD quality Verbatim brand only. The best discs are JVC TaiyoYuden (on line only). The rest are hit or miss with store brands and Memorex at the bottom of the barrel.

I do not see a topic solved button anywhere. The driver repair didn't help, but the burned did. So I consider it solved until buy a new computer. A side note is "I'm a 74 year old retired school teacher who bought this cheap computer to put in the trunt of a motorcycle and tour 49 states. Thanks

I'm guessing ImgBurn did the trick for you, but that is only a guess.

Re the Topic Solved button, here is where it shows on my display. I get even more buttons there when I run the mouse pointer over the buttons I show.

What buttons do you see at the bottom right corner of your posts?

I'm surprised that you are able to do anything with that Celeron processor. It is pretty slow isn't it. I think it is below the minimum specs for the program. As long as you can live with it, then go with it.

A couple of things. Your video driver is 2 years out of date and the burner firmware is probably as old or older. Go here and update your computer (link) if there isn't a built in updater program on that computer. Note when you go to that page, there are several different computers with that first designation. Look at the bottom of that computer and you should see some numbers after the CQ 56-XXXX. Made sure you go to the right computer model to get the downloads. Note: I looked at several and the updates look like they are all old so you may have the latest anyway.

I ask again: Where do we stand now? You seem to indicate that you burn a disc and it plays on your DVD player even though the burn ends at 97%. Is that correct?

You also indicated that you were able to burn the folder set. Were you able to use Video Copy and Convert to burn that folder set to a disc? If not, download a free copy of IMGBurnand see if that will burn for you.

Did the suggestions made in this thread get you to where you want to be? If so clcik the "Topic Solved Button below the post that gave you the solution.

Type in device manager in the search box. It has to be there ! If you run dxdiag, there should not be any funny writing. There should be information on your computer. It should look like this: (look at link)

Is English the native language for the Windows installation on your computer?

Guys, thanks so much for the help. I am going to live with the problem. I did the restore to 3/18 and got back to the orginal problem that burns to the 97% and kicks out the DVD. The DVD plays and does the copy DVD on our desk top computer. When I did the restore I can't go back further than the 18th, so if I try anymore ideas that resource is gone.

Also, my laptop with Windows does not have a Windows Device Manage when I do a search. It comes up refering to DxDiag, which when you open it you find lots of funny writing.

Again, thanks so much.

I'm ready to give up. I do remember clicking of the file set and having complete results. I just retried and found that either with the file set or without Roxio goes up to and complete with a ok. We check the disc on our other computer and it says that disc is full. I'm evidently too computer stuped to follow your instructions. Sorry that I wasted your time. My computer is now worthless to me.

What do you check on the other computer? "Disc is full" means nothing. Does it play on the computer, either on the one you burned or on the other computer?

How did you burn the DVD when it said "complete"? Do you mean you did not get the 97% message?

Does Windows Media Player play the folder set you created successfully play Ok?

I have goofed. I was rereading my previous messages and found that I have a typo. I took my Roxio 2012 program to another computer with Windows 7. Installed, made a slideshow and burned a disc with no problems.

I just spent some time playing. I went to the burn screen and unchecked the the folder set function. I cannot even get the program to even try to burn to the 97%. If I leave it on folder set, it will copy. But that doesn't burn it. I dried other features in the program and could not get anything to burn a disc. So I am worse off. I can't even burn to the 97% and carry it to another computer. Now I am really desperate.

P.S. any possiblity that it's Window 7

If a the burn only goes to 97% then the burned DVD is useless - it is just another coaster. You cannot make a copy of a corrupt disc.

Do as sknis suggested and burn the folder set (which the program created correctly according to one of your posts) using Video Copy and Convert.

Stop looking for things under the street lamp that you dropped in the dark. !

If the project burns to a folder set then there is nothing wrong with the project. Have you tried burning that folder set to a new and different brand DVD using the Video Copy and Convert (DVD copy part of it)? I don't see that you did.

No, Windows is not the problem but your burner could be. Go to Windows Device Manager and find your DVD burner. Post that information here. It will tell us what that burner can and will burn.

Also find a post in another thread where you see cdanteek's signature. Look at item 7 (I thnk). It should talk about the pxengine repair and update. Do that and try again.

Yes that is the way to go with the Folder Set ~ thanks Steve!

Let's see how the burn goes ~ the media could have faded over time - depends on how long you had it and how much sunlight it sees ;)

Combine that with a different Burner and the 2 might just be on the edge.

The last message doesn't make sense to me. What should I do?

Thanks Steve!

MY Last sentence was speculation as to why this might have happened. Nothing more ;)

We are interested is resolving this and Burning the Folder Set with VCC, as Steve suggested, is the answer we are waiting for!

Use the application Video Copy and Convert - the copy DVD part. On the left there is a drop down for "Browse for ISO or DVD folder. Do so and put your target disc in your burner. and on the right point to that.

By the way, the fact that the folder set completed points to either the media or the burner as being the chief issue.

Some background informaton that might help. I have used versions 09,11,&12. I have used about 70 of my current supply of dics without this problem. This 97% problem just occurred on my last 3 slideshows. I have even written my own manuel.

Last suggestion: I made a new slideshow, on the screen that you suggestioned I clicked on "Create Folder Set". It went through the whole process including "complete" with 100%. I clicked on "ok". I don't know what to do next.

Sorry, I don't know how to use this program. The Last message said. That I had deleted the Roxio program with AVG turned off and reloaded it. I clicked on Videowave, loaded a slideshow, and went of burn DVD. The burn DVD stopped at 97% again and kicked the DVD out of the machine for the complete came up. I took that DVD, put it back in with the "copy DVD" program. It started to copy and then said that it was copy protected and stopped.

Next, I repeated the process again and this time I pushed DVD back into the machine. A sign came up, "Teh Instruction at ox12effaf4 referenced memory couldnot be read. Click to terminate the program. DVD still would not allow copies to be make.

I know that I can live with this by making the slideshow and carrying it to another computer to make the copies for friends. Help would be appreciated.

The Missing Reply:

(response is to my Post #4 after she had conducted a Repair)

I followed your directions. When I burned the disc from Videowave, it ran to the 97% and kicked the disc out. No, error message came up but when I used copy disc, it is still copy protected. My husband tells me the the disc come copy protected and the program should change that. Evidently if it went on to "complete" 100% the copy protected would be canceled. Help

A couple of observations...

If you have created a faulty disc AND attempt to Copy it, it may mistake the burned errors as Copy Protection or may be part a warning message that has many possibles ;)

To expand on what Walt said, not only will the Suite NOT break copy protection, it Can Not Add any Copy Protection to any DVD Movie...

I sure hope you have a disc or 2 of DVD RW that you are using to play with here

Please Update ~ you ran the Repair and it will not complete.

WHAT IS THE EXACT ERROR MESSAGE now? (oops you said there wasn't any  - sorry)

Another thing to try for us is to burn to a Folder Set or a Disc Image (block above the arrow):

post-39730-0-89955000-1363955124_thumb.jpg

This will do 2 things - see if it will complete without the Burner & Media involved AND give us another way to attempt the burn ;)

See what that does and then we can talk about using one of those to burn to disc!

I would like to ask a question of the DVD that you are trying to burn Patricia---

When you made the original production, what was the content and type of files you placed in the

production for the DVD ?? Was there a possibility that there was a video or something else that you added

to the production that could have been copy protcted ??

Frank...

Where do you go to get real help for a problem? A year or two ago I had a bad problem with 2011 and I got a person to talk to and all kinds of help.

Patricia, you posted your reply in the Moderator CP forum, almost nobody will see it there and can respond to it. If you want help you have to post in this thread.

BTW, your husband is wrong, This program does not remove copy protection.

When I finish making an slideshow and burn a disc. It hangs up at 97%. A sign comes up says something is missing. When I proceed to do copy disc, I get the sign "copy protected". I made the DVD and I don't want it copy protected. How to I stop this. This is the sign that comes up when the disc has been copied and you hit "finish". "A problem caused the program to stop working. Windows will close the program and notify you if a soluton is available

I don't quite understand what you are describing. On the one hand you say you have a problem burning your slideshow to a DVD and then you talk about copying a disc.

What disc are you trying to copy? Obviously it can't be the DVD you were creating of your slideshow since you say that never completed. Roxio does not create copy protected discs so I don't know where that message comes from unless you are trying to make a copy of a commercial, copy protected DVD.

Please give some details on exactly what you are doing.

This is all that is left

If it is throwing an error about something missing (would have been nice to know WHAT) then you need a Proper Repair.

First thing to do is to turn off your Anti Virus, Firewalls, Registry Cleaners, etc.

Insert your Roxio Disc.

Be sure you accept the offer to Check for Updates (this is for Roxio, not Windows)

When you reach the screen where
Repair
is offered, choose that!

When the Repair competes, turn your AV & Firewall back on and reboot.

That should cover whatever is missing ~ However that alone may not be the only issue...

See what that does and we will go from there - remember error messages are important ;)
