Dvd Menu Problem

das1

Question

I have attempted to make DVDs with many small video clips (up to about 40). My issues are that the DVD menu never displays more than 6 titles when played. It appears from the view of the templates that it should support the ability to move forward to another menu screen with the next 6 titles, but it is not clear how to get this to work. Also, when playing the videos the "skip" functions on the player will not work on the disc. Is there a setting for this too?

There should be a small arrow at the bottom of the menu for advancing to the next menu page. I just checked with an older Toast-authored DVD and the chapter skip button advances to the next title on the disc (unless there is another chapter, of course). I'm surprised that's not working for you. There isn't a setting for it. Try playing it on the Mac using DVD Player to see if what the skip commands do. That way we'll learn if it is the disc alone or something between the disc and the player that is the issue.

It does not work playing the disc image on the Mac either. There is no arrow. I cannot advance with the skip option, so I must play it start to finsh to watch titles 7 - 40. Painful! If I open the disc through the finder I can drill down and find the other titles. This leads me to believe the write is fine, but indicates problems with the menu information.

I don't know why Toast failed to create the menu correctly. I suggest reinstalling Toast from the Toast 11.1 update available on Roxio's Software Updates page. Be sure to trash the "Toast Menu Styles" folder in your root>Library>Application Support>Roxio folder before doing the reinstall.
