I tried connecting the USB of the capture card in PS3 but that didnt work. I got no signal. I hate switching between cables when i dont have the laptop near the tv. Thank you! Jim_Hardin
Obviously Not In theory yours should work but there are other factors as well If you have any other you can try with Do It! As I said, I will try tomorrow...
JAMESYBOY
Thanks you for this, i had the same problem, it sucks that you need power going to the device so i guess i will just have to switch wires when im not recording, this should definitely be warned in the product description :/ and cant you connect the USB to xbox to power it, or does it NEED the PC drivers? Jim_Hardin
Well that was a Bust! I finally had some time to put together a USB power source (1000 mAh) with a 12V battery power supply and it did not work... I guess it does need the Driver on a PC in order for the Pass Through to function
minamoto
OK great. Thank for testing all the possibilities.

Jim_Hardin
I didn't get to it yet ~ I have asked some others to try but no one has reported back... I suspect it has to do with the sign wave form of the converter (why I wanted to try a straight DC adapter) Whereas a Battery is happy to charge as long as the input exceeds its' voltage and could care less if it get a square, clipped wave or sawtooth! But electronics are more particular and your PC Power Supply is more sophisticated
minamoto
Its weird that the drivers are not a necessity but a pc is.
Jim_Hardin
That Bursts my Bubble I have been telling folks that it would work for some time now I also want to try it with another converter I have but I have to drag a 12V Battery in to do that

Jim_Hardin
I was able to test today and ran into the same thing you did I tried a couple of USB Adapters that I had as well as my little Dell Mini 10 laptop and NONE would work! It did run when connected to my other PC and I even tried it there booting to a drive that has never had the RGC Software installed, just to make sure there wasn't something in the driver that was needed... The PC ran the Pass Through without any problems, but nothing else I have would...
minamoto
Well i thought its obvious that i have to power the device in order to work. Its a HTC charger for a cell phone - Input: 100-240V / 200 mA - Output: 5V / 1000mA
Jim_Hardin
WHY did you keep that a secret so long What is the output capacity (milliamp) of the device? Note that while the RGC only calls for 200 mAh a lot of the cheaper devices do not produce a clean signal to power the device or may fall off in voltage as the upper threshold in mAh is reached. I will try to do some experiments today/tomorrow. I know I have powered the device using a different PC from the one I was working on and it worked fine
minamoto
OK, just not getting through... FOR THE PASS THOROUGH TO WORK YOU MUST HAVE USB CONNECTED TO POWER THE DEVICE!!!!!!! I know that i need to power the device in order to work. OK let me explain better. The working connection: component cable from ps3(out) to roxio capture device(in), hdmi from roxio capture device(out) to TV and usb from roxio capture device to laptop. I get signal on TV, works fine. The connection that does not work goes like this: component cable from ps3(out) to roxio capture device(in), hdmi from roxio capture device(out) to TV and usb from roxio capture device to something like this: http://www.amazon.com/Kodak-High-Performance-Adapter-8085003/dp/B003A4H2LI/ I get no signal on TV

Jim_Hardin
I don't really understand your question... Describe, IN Detail, how you are setting it up??? You do understand that the processed mts output (capture) has to go to the PC running the laptop
