Golden Geezer
m having a problem with Windows Media Player insisting that it needs to configure Roxio CinePlay Decorder Pack. The message says "The feature you are trying to use is on a CD-ROM or other removable disk that is not available. Insert the Roxio CinePlayer Decoder Pack disk and click OK." That's impossible because this was a download and there was no disk. Anyone have a solution to suggest?
Brendon
That is another of Microsoft's 'One-size-fits-all' messages. It means "Something has broken somewhere, but I don't see the installer around so I can reinstall whateveritis." Windows is inherently very fragile, and bits are always falling off it. It keeps a number of copies of installers on your hard drive so it can reinstall when it encounters an error. It doesn't keep a duplicate of the Roxio installer set, so you need to show it one. Extract the files from your Roxio download to a folder on your hard drive, and next time you get that error, try to steer Windows to that folder you've made with the Roxio files. Your other alternative is to uninstall and then reinstall the Roxio software, hoping that will fix whatever Windows has broken.
