Anyone Used The Roxio Game Capture Hd Pro To Record Dvds?

cav8000

Question

I am thinking about buying one of these because it has component inputs and it should output into AVI, right? I am thinking about using this device to record from a DVD player with non-protected content. Has anyone tried that here with this device?

Yes it accepts Component Input!

"...it should output to AVI, right?" - What does that mean???

The included Software captures in m2ts format, period!

You can use the editor to output that in many, many formats if your not happy with mts ;)

Read through the Specs very closely to make sure you meet or exceed them HERE

Here is mine hooked up to a DVD Player with Component: (NOTE: HDMI Will Not work as it will sense a Protected Signal)

Thanks Jim. I saw online that this product stated that it could output in .avi format. Not sure about the M2TS format. I'm not sure how that compares to the quality of .avi. I believe the standard Roxio Capture does avi.

Also, how do you hook this device up to record dvds. I would be using component to go from the dvd player to the component IN on the device. Then would the only other connection be the USB cable to my pc? Can you see what you are recording on the pc monitor by only using the USB cable from the device?

Thanks Jim, I was thinking that I might need to use an HDMI from the device to my monitor just to see what I'm recording. I'm glad the USB would take care of that instead. If M2TS is better quality or just as good as .avi then I guess I could use something like m2tsplayer to play the files I create on my pc?
