Cannot Edit Song Titles In Roxio Pro11

ramsfan

Question

I have Roxio Creator Pro 11 running on a WIndows 7 Pro PC. I cannot get the edit button to do anything when I try to change how I want the song to be titled on my recordings. I will only allow me to record exaclty what I have moved or copied and pasted. The edit feature will not work? Any help would be appreciated! THis is frustrating me!

I am referring to Roxio Creator 2011. Sorry about not being informative. I am creating a cd from my Mp3 library. I would assume that since all other past Roxio Creaters have this available and that in Roxio 2011 the option is there since the rename button is available, I would assume that this still is the reason its there. It just simply is not working! I am very familiar with Roxio products and have never ran into this situation before. By the way, you can right click it and have the option to rename it too in the software which will not work neither. It works fine in Creator7 which I use also. I believe it is just time for me to upgrade or go back to only Creater7.

It is still not clear what kind of disc you are trying to create.

Are you trying to create an "audio CD" or an mp3 CD. Could you describe step by step what you are doing?

By Creator 7 do you mean Easy Media Creator 7?

Yes!!!! That is exactly what I am doing. The rename button, F2, or right-clicking and clicking on rename, will not do anything. It just simply will not work. Must be in the software because when I installed it on my other Win7Pro it does the same thing on it.

I did the repair 4 times and the rename button still fails to work. I can rename the disc but not the tracks. The only way is to edit the song tags which is a nuisance compared to Creator7!

Is this what your doing, click here? It's a short video.

It works in my Creator 2011 Pro on aW-7 Ultimate x64.

That is exactly what is happening. Even right clicking it will not do anything. I reinstalled it and it still didn't work. BTW, how do you like C2012? The reason I am renaming the song titles is becuase when ever I rip songs on my harddrive I list them in a specific folder and name them "last name first," such as for example, "ADAMS, BRYAN - Summer of '69" It's a little more work but in my 4gig music library I can keep better track of what I have in a alphebetical hiarchy! Might seem crazy to some, but it's much more organized that way!

I thought you were trying to burn the songs to a disc!

Just use Windows to rename the files.

I am using C2012 but that is identical to C2011 and there is no problem renaming the song titles.

Do a repair as Jim suggested.

BTW, why do you want to rename the song titles?

In all versions, the 'Rename' Button disappears whenever Audio CD project is selected...

But even then, Right Clicking a Song will allow the 'Rename' to be selected in the context menu and it should work! You can also highlight and hit F2.

If yours in not behaving then I would suggest doing a proper repair:

First thing to do is to turn off your Anti Virus, Firewalls, Registry Cleaners, etc.

Now insert your Roxio Disc.

Be sure you accept the offer to Check for Updates (this is for Roxio, not Windows)

When you reach the screen where
Repair
is offered, choose that!

When the Repair competes, turn your AV & Firewall back on and reboot.

It is Easy Media Creator 7. When I am in Roxio Media Creator 2011, I an creating an audio file cd from my library of MP3's. I open Roxio and click on Create Music Discs Projects. When I click on add audio tracks, it brings me up a media selector. I find through my file library what MP3 it is I want to add to my music CD and drag and drop it. I then want to rename the title of the song I have inserted on the project and simply click that "rename" button, or right-click it and then click on the rename option from my list. It simply will not do anything at all. Hope that's informative enough!

See this is what is confusing me. I can do this in all earlier versions. Once I move the file from the media selector box I could always rename it before copying it. The Roxio11 has the button there so I would think that if a rename button is available then the program would allow you to rename the file on the disc before recording. When I hit the button, nothing happens, however on the earlier versions, it works fine. Never had this problem until Roxio 11.

Are you trying to create an audio CD or a mp3 CD?

BTW, there is no such program as Roxio 11, I assume you are referring to Roxio Creator 2011, also called C2011 by us here in these forums.

Of course not, in Creator, you are creating a pointer to the song. You do not have the actual song in the program. You are trying to create a pointer to a song and then change the name. That doesn't work.

Are you creating/editing the tags to the song?

It still will not change it. I can rename it on Windows in my library, however when I am moving songs over to copy on Creator, it will not let me rename the song. I can do everything else but rename the file. It is not in use by anything else. I click on the rename button no matter what it will not let me edit the file name! Never had this problem in any of the earlier versions!

Just changing the names. I can do it fine in Roxio7 but however 11 will not let me change it. Rightclick, clicking the rename button does nothing. I have reinstalled it, and no matter what I try it will not work. Roxio says that I have the most recent update! Stumped on this one!
