How Do I Convert Mov Files To Dvd?

LHH82

Question

Please can anyone help?! I am a bit of a 'technophobe', and I have just insalled Creator NXT. I want to convert mov and avchd files from my computer to DVD, but the programme will only 'find' the avchd files, and not the mov files that are stored on my computer! The help centre says you an convert from mov. Can anyone tell me how to do it please?

Mov files have always been an issue for Creator. First, make sure you have the latest version of Quicktime installed on your computer. Open "Video Copy and Convert" Select the mov files and convert them to what you want.

The question I have is "what do you want to do with the files" What format do you want to convert the mov files. Where are you going to use them/ You asked a specific question and it was answered but that brought up a whole new set of questions so there could be a better way. Remember there are about 30 applications within the program so anythi8ng you want to share would be helpful.

Note:Many of us use a third party converter because it is faster and because they don't seem to have issues with the audio on certain mov files.

Thanks for your reply. I want to convert them to PAL format to play on my DVD player. I am just checking I have the most up to date version of Quicktime now...I think I do though. I bought this software specifically for this purpose, so i hope it will convert the mov files!

So you'll want to make a DVD; for that, you'll want to use "Create DVD" (MyDVD) to properly author the DVD. You would select PAL in the project properties. If you want to edit the video files, you would use "Edit Video -Advanced" (Video Wave)

If you are not familiar with the program, read this work flow strategy. It is for an early version but the basic process is the same.

If you can get your mov files to work, use something like the free 'Any Video Converter" (example) to do a batch convert of the mov files. I'm assuming that the mov files are from a dSLR used as a camcorder.

Let us know if you have more questions after reading the work flow and doing some trialing.
