Juliea M.
I purchased 'Roxio Easy CD and DVD Burning - ESD" from the Roxio store. Checked out, got the download link, etc. However, when I download the file and install, the actual program installed is something called Geo Viewer, by Lizard Tech. This happened several times. I called Roxio support, and we tried again with the agent on the line. Same result. So they refunded my purchase and recommended that I do a re-purchase. Which is what I did. Went through check out again, got a new download link, etc. But it's still downloading the Lizard Tech program, not my Roxio purchase. I've tried the new link several times, with the same result. The name of the downloaded file is: HD56ZXD1ECD_RoxioEasyCDandDVDBurningv10.3.exe But that's not what it actually is. I've scanned this will several security programs and it does't indicate any problems. Any solutions?? Weirdest thing I've ever seen. I've had earlier versions of CD Creator and would really like to have it again. Alas, that doesn't seem to be in the cards. The Lizard Tech program works fine by the way, but I have no use for it. If it matters, I'm running Windows 7 Home Premium on a box with an SSD hard drive, 32 mb ram, two other 1 TB SATA drives. Thanks for any ideas. grandpabruce
Your solution isn't here in the users forums. We aren't Roxio. Keep working with them until the problem is resolved.
Juliea M.
Your solution isn't here in the users forums. We aren't Roxio. Keep working with them until the problem is resolved. Thanks. I certainly don't mean to burden anyone with Roxio's problems. I was really just trying to find out if anyone else had run across this issue, or whether it was something unique to me -- or possibly something I might be doing incorrectly. (By the way, Roxio suggested I check in the users forum).

Brendon
This is fascinating. Never seen anything like that before. Juliea, did the tech people get you to move your downloaded file to somewhere safe, and then delete the contents of your Temp directory before running the downloaded file again? It's worth trying, since there may be an installer for the Geo Viewer program left in your Temp directory, which accidentally gets run during the Roxio install. Another thing you could do is to use 7zip [a free and safe zip/unzip program available from the Internet] to "open" the downloaded file. 7Zip can open it without running it, and show you the contents of your HD56ZXD1ECD_RoxioEasyCDandDVDBurningv10.3.exe file. It should look something like this if the file is the right one. I would be very interested to know what you see inside the file. With 7Zip installed you right-click on the file, go to 7Zip, and "Open the Archive" Regards, Brendon.
Jim_Hardin
That is bizarre Brendon seems to have so good ideas on this. I would question, just what are your burning needs? I ask because the Red Box is dated And very limited! (not much point to putting a lot of effort into being disappointed )
grandpabruce
I think that what Brendon said is worth pursuing. I remember that happening with folks with a previous version of Roxio software. Some other .exe file, that was still in the temp folder, took over, and installed that software instead of the correct software.
sknis
It is possible that the computer needs a little work ! Go here to download free software to remove software you no longer use (uninstallers), to get rid of junk and temp files (as discussed above) and to defrag your hard drive. Now get ready to install the software using these guidelines.
cdanteek
No need to download software to clean the temp folder.. In the search or run box type %temp% and click OK, or the search box shows the temp folder, click to open, edit select all, file delete....
