Bad Disc For Creator 2012

Daniel of Sweden

Question

Hello.

I recently bought Roxio Creator 2012.

When I install the program it starts installing for approx. 10 minutes and then it stops. Then I recive a CRC error in the file EMC_13X\data1.cab. I have checked the disc and it i scatch and a lot of marks on the disc. I have never used the disc before so I suppose it´s been there from the start. Where can I get a new disc? I searched Roxios webpage, but I came up empty and I don't like to talk to an english speaking person as my primary language is Swedish. Is it possible to download the files from Roxios webpage?

Hope for a quick solution

Daniel, where did you buy the Roxio Creator 2012 program?

Have you tried returning it there?

Hello.

Yes, I tried that but they said I have to contact the manufacturer to obtain a replacement disc.

The Roxio web supportpage is not a userfriendly page and I don't find anything that could help me in this matter at all.

I think the seller is passing the buck!

Contact technical support. http://corel.force.c...duct?lang=en_US

Daniel,

If your seller won't help you, the first thing to try is what Jim suggested above. Copy the disc contents to your hard drive. Usually Windows Explorer will try longer to get a good read than the installer will, and it might be more successful at reading through the scratches.

If that doesn't work, it is often possible to polish out quite deep scratches in the plastic. The data layer in a DVD is safely sandwiched between two layers of hard plastic, and it is usually possible to remove enough plastic to take away the scratches. Music shops and especially video libraries should have the equipment to clean up your DVD.

Once you have got a good read off the disc, be sure to burn at least one fresh disc as a backup.

Regards,

Brendon

Thanks for the inputs.

I have contacted the reseller again and this time I recieved a new version of the program.

I tried copy the content to the harddrive but recieved after appr. 15 minutes of coping a CRC error.

But it´s solved now.

Thanks for all help!

Thank you for coming back and telling us the good outcome, most don't. :)
