Exporting Video

jamcrky

Question

Hello everyone, just upgraded to DVD PLUS3.......and getting use to the new features which seem to be really good (I think)

But then I try to export the video and it takes forever....an example is this starting exporting a 46:58 min video at 1:43 pm and came back at 9:10 pm and it was only at 43 percent. Is this normal? and if so how long can i expect a 46 min video to take. In the enhancement field i activated noise correction and color correction.....If someone can help me, it would be greatly appreciated.....Jim

You only use the Revo Uninstaller in the Moderate Mode!

It looks as though you have gone deeper and the results are it is deleting or disabling things you need to run!

You do not need to download every time... The file is on your PC, simply run it (hint ~ probably in Downloads)

You do not need to install V2D first. Just run the download file and see. (unless it specifies the previous version is missing)

Jim did some more work on this problem tonight. Installed my ATI graphics card and the original software VHS to DVD. There are no errors on computer. Also did a quick 50 sec test and every thing work just fine......So all I have to is upgrade to the latest software VHS to DVD 3 plus, and then check that out. Do you have ideas where i would get the download? I sent a message to the techs pretty saying the same to them requesting a disc or a clean download for the Software. Jim thanks again big time for all your help......Jim

You have the Upgrade, there is no need to download it everytime you install... Actually the '(1)' on the end, indicates it is the 2nd time you have downloaded the same file.

I hope you have burned a copy of the download onto a disc so you have a backup!!! Roxio does not provide downloads forever ;)

Jim..............copy on backup. Also you had mentioned that VHS to DVD 3 in inferior to VHS to DVD, i didn't know that. I was assuming that the noise reduction, color correction etc etc would only enhance the finish copy on a disc. I never got to work so that why I didn't know......If and when i get it working will make a judgement on which is better than go from there. I have another hook up with the folks from tech tonight, so i hope they can provide the upgrade download and once loaded i can make a decision. But thanks again Jim, it gives me a reason to compare the two software's

no... Walt made the comparison of EVD 2 vs EVD 3 -_-

I do not agree but I will concede there is not a lot of differences :DI think the main motivation for EVD3 was that they changed suppliers of the USB Device and new drivers were required.

I do not mean to sound critical but you are a big contributor to these issues... You take off on these wild tangents, instead of plodding along to resolve a problem. You keep doing things on your own that were never mentioned and hope that everyone else can keep up and get you fixed up... just a thought ;)

Like Jim says I made the comment about VHS2DVD 3 being inferior but I deleted my post since I don't think it really had anything to do with your problem.

Do you install VHS2DVD3 over top of VHS2DVD or do you first completely uninstall VHS2DVD?

Jim..............I uninstalled everything through revo......then I re-installed VHS to DVD and that's where am at right now.....When I went to install VHS to DVD 3 Plus through that download it automatically uninstalled the previous version. After that when I try a short test, its old history the error starting crashing the software....

Tonight when I talk to the techs all i would like to have is another link to download the upgrade, as I first had with the e/mail after i purchased the upgrade. I would just like to get back to square one again before all the errors started. And yes will run a back up copy of that download.

I am glad I saw those remarks about quality difference between the 2 soft wares Jim, because if I ever get to a point where i can complete the processing in the newest software i can take a look at both and decide which i think is better. Today I ran a clean project which was 46 mins VHS Tape and everything went great under the old software (VHS to DVD)...Will keep ya posted and thanks.......................Jim

Why do you keep on downloading the upgrade? Do you delete the downloading file after a install?

Walt, I just thought this is what i needed to do in order to upgrade to the new software......The link I had with the e/mail of purchased expired. It look as if the techs were doing that as well, but not crystal clear on that.....

Jim, I was always using Revo in the moderate mode, then i started using the quick uninstaller which automatically deletes left over files. I don't know if that would caused the most recent error? I have back up disc for roxio creator 11, should i try to uninstall then re-install that?

Thanks for the info on the download files.

Jim, Roxio Creator 11 is my burning software which i have had since 2011........Don't know how this error affected it (in page 34 is the error and in the background is creator 11) , but at this point i can uninstall then re-install because i had created a back up disc. Finally did some thing right!

But here is the positive news Jim, i open the download file for vhs to dvd 3 plus, loaded it on my computer and the dam thing works just fine. Created a enhanced file with noise reduction and color correction and then processed this 46 mins video with no problems.

As far as the quality as Walt suggested, I have 2 processed files , 1 with vhs to dvd and 2 with vhs to dvd 3 plus. Will let you know if there is an improvement, quality wise over one software over the other.

Jim once again (Walt as well) thanks for all the help. It was really informative and you guys really know your stuff.

Here is a news flash to consider...

Creator 2011 will capture with USB Device, once the drivers are installed AND has everything and MORE as far as features in VideoWave & MyDVD

The only thing it doesn't have is the ability to Span Discs with a Project, which is only found in EVD3...

Of course the learning curve is steeper, ;)

Thanks Jim, Roxio Creator has a lot of features that I don't even use. I use it to rip cd's and as a burning engine. Right now that's the program with that stupid error as in #34, and my VHS to DVD 3 is working perfectly. Computers are crazy hahahaaha!......

Jim any advice on fixing that error? Try to use my back up disc and still getting that error on creator 11.

Also I took a quick look at both the video files from VHS to DVD and VHS to DVD 3 plus and i don't really see much of a different between them.

Jim disregard that last message concerning the creator 2011 problem. I uninstalled it and then re-installed using your procedures (anti virus firewall etc ) and everything is working just fine.

Jim thanks for all the help and information over the past 2 weeks or so, it was greatly appreciated...........Jim

Just going to take a serious look at the 2 video files i have created from each of the programs, and will let you know what i think....

Jim, Walt, I'm backkkkkkkkkkkkkk........but there is no problem with the software. I finish part of the project i was working on and then compared the quality of the video files between the old software (vhs to dvd) to the new software (vhs to dvd 3 plus). When i was using the newest software, i would enhance the video with noise reduction and color correction. The only problem is that the automatic adjustment in correct correction is that it over corrects the brightness and blows out the highlights of the video. When I did the same video without color correction the density, brightness is much more realistic and diff looks better. It appears the similar to the video i did in the older software.

So i do have this 1 question? Is the newer software basically the same as the old software but with the enhancements? Would I just be better to skip the enhancements and go right to export? Of course i know now i could have preview the video with and without the enhancements before exporting. Live and learn, I guess?

Thanks Guys, just would like some feedback on this, if you aren't too tired of me, hahahaahaha Thanks Jim

I have had video where some areas can use enhanced and other do not...

For that, any of the Creator Suites are the hands down winners! You don't HAVE to use 'auto' you can do it manually and in the Creator Suites, you can split the clip and apply it only to the split portions.

In one extreme case (Super 8mm to Video) I was making 15 corrections on a 5 minute clip

I am sure they 'borrowed' from one on the Suites in making EVD3, but I don't know which one... Thus there could be some subtle differences in the Auto results.

Frankly, I would never consider using EVD3 as my primary editor or even use it for capture since I have the Creator Suites!

Jim thanks for the input, and very interesting. I have creator 11 and never even considered using it till now. I am basically a still photographer and really never did that many video's and that's the reason i never use it. Another software i used to use for the few video's i did was NCH Golden's Video which tended to do a pretty good job, then i would open in Video Pad to Edit. I started with Roxio when i saw the update. Thought ii would be looking into, and a friend of mine had some VHS tapes from the 60's he wanted to preserve on DVD. So I have plenty of tapes to play around with.

So basically the procedure you follow is to process the tape in VHS to DVD 3 and edit in creator.......Great will have to start playing around with that this week.

Thanks again Jim,

...next thing I pulled out of our little bag of tricks is...

But before you do this, try a fresh capture and export!

Nothing long, a couple of 10 second caps slapped together just to make sure the original is not corrupted ;)

If that too fails...

Unplug your Roxio Video Capture Device and put it aside until you are completely finished.

Download and install the Revo Uninstaller. Then run it in Moderate Mode to remove any traces of Roxio.

Then turn off your Anti Virus, Firewalls, Registry Cleaners, etc.

Now insert your Roxio Disc.

Be sure you accept the offer to Check for Updates (this is for Roxio, not Windows)

When the Install competes, turn your AV & Firewall back on and reboot.

You left out very important information in your post: your system specs, the amount of free space on your hard drive, the amount of defragmentation of your hard drive, any programs running in the background, etc.

Forget about doing any enhancements initially, they will slow you down.
